A sheep in South Sudan has been sentenced to three years in jail for killing a 45-year-old woman, a report by Eye Radio says.
According to the report, the sheep fatally attacked the woman identified as Adhieu Chaping in Rumbek East, South Sudan earlier this month, leaving her with broken ribs that resulted in death.
Following the death of the 45-year-old woman, the sheep was seized and taken into custody at a police station in Maleng Agok Payum.
Despite the sheep being 'innocent' the court ruled that Duony Manyang Dhal who is the owner of the sheep that head-butted the woman hands over five cows to the deceased's family in compensation.
The court also ruled that the sheep will live with the bereaved family once its released from custody.

Confirming the incident, Rumbek East's Major Elijah Mabor stated: "The owner is innocent but the ram is the one who perpetrated the crime so it deserves to be arrested. The case will be forwarded to a customary court where it can be handed amicably."Despite the sheep being 'innocent' the court ruled that Duony Manyang Dhal who is the owner of the sheep that head-butted the woman hands over five cows to the deceased's family in compensation.
