They only use GAN to make better DVD quality and video synthesis not for the serious general purpose learning algorithms like Alpha Go. GAN requires a known dataset while deep mind learning algorithms learn like a child from the unknown to the known. Deepmind uses deep reinforcement learning with convolution neural networks .

Also HMI is as old as computers, Neuralink is just building on top of that by trying to implant a device in the human brain which will act as a bridge between the human brain and an AI ie. Augmenting the human brain with AI capabilities. FYI: Linux is not a unix operating system. Linus created Linux because Unix licenses were expensive. He built linux kernel from Minix(1987) a microkernel educational tool and by the way all modern intel chips run Minix apart from your main operating system.
