Ukiachwa kubali, Kenya tuliwaacha 2015 mufanye hiyo upuzi yote kwa pamoja na haturudi. Yani mpaka 2020 bado munhisi uchungu!!!
Haya sasa uskie kutoka kwa mkenya tena:
i) Mkitaka tuungane kwa kulainisha kodi afrika mashariki, tunakubali.
ii) Mkitaka tuungane kurahisisha uwezo wa watu kuingia na kutoka nchi yoyote sawa tutakubaliana.
iii) Mkitaka tuungane watu waweze kununua shamba popote afrika mashariki sawa tutafurahia
Lakini katu hatutakubali kuwekwa kwa muungano moja ya kifedha na nchi kama Tanzania na Uganda, labda Rwanda.
I don't have a problem with a section of countries in the region moving forward on areas of cooperation under the principle of variable geometry. Besides securities are very risky especially with lax safeguards and a sluggish economy that has seen a number of stocks de-listing with some stock shading some historical worth.
African countries coming together in a competitive and sometimes dangerous world to have a united front on any issues is always good and not "upuzi" no matter the material valuation of that initiative. It is like dismissing EAC initiative because it is not at par with Nigeria in terms of population or GDP or Algeria in terms of geographical size.
Separate individual countries experiencing different macroeconomic forces cannot have uniform taxes without adverse effects, such measures can only be carried out by a political union that has power to execute monetary and fiscal policies without negative effect on the big and small economies.
There is freedom of movement in East Africa, of course you have to get some sort of permit to move around East Africa in all the States. What is not there is the right of residence for East Africans which what you must be referring to. How to solve it refer to paragraph above.
You and I know land is a nonstarter regional issue. Kenya only allow foreigners to lease land and Tanzania only allow foreigners to co-lease land with majority Tanzanian shareholding. How to bridge the gap on this issue for east Africans refer to my paragraph three.
Ultimate unity will just be an exercise in futility if any of the countries in the region are left out. There isn't much Kenya and Rwanda can achieve on the real issues of cooperation. None of this cooperation is possible without with a self-serving attitude or an attitude of dismissing or degrading what we don't like or can't have from the region.
I am Kenyan not Tanzanian.
