Tanzania shows off amphibious warfare capability

saadeque, our amphibious attack to oust a sitting President that lost election was conducted in 2007 while urs Kismayu was in 2012!
I was willing to let it slide, so you can have your fun in piece, but since you keep repeating it as if after a while it will be true, let me just set it straight.

First of all, what happened is Comoros is what you would call an operational landing,or a simple beach landing of troops in that there was no other means of traveling to the island, you landed there via sea then after landing, you prepared the attack on one of the three islands where the leader was, the enemy was not even located at the beach front...

The Tanzanian People's Defence Force (TPDF) demonstrated its combined arms capability on 30 September, when it carried out a beach assault in front of president John Magufuli, Chief of Defence Forces General Davis Mwamunyange, and other senior officers.

The exercise was held in the Bagamoyo area of mainland Tanzania and photographs released by the president's official blog showed it involved soldiers and Type 63A amphibious light tanks landing on the beach with the support of naval vessels, including at least one of the new Haiqing-class patrol boats, and F-7 jet fighters.

One photograph showed that the TPDF has acquired two new landing craft calledMbono (LC 13) and Sehewa (LC 14), at least one of which is armed with a twin 14.5 mm light anti-aircraft gun.

Open-source satellite imagery shows that the new landing craft arrived at the main naval base in Dar es Salaam by January and are 28 m long, indicating that they are ex-Chinese navy Type 068 craft. These appear to have replaced the similar landing craft that Tanzania acquired from China in the 1990s.

The Kenyan navy has shelled Kismayo, the main Somali city controlled by militant Islamist group al-Shabab, a military spokesman has told the BBC.
Colonel Cyrus Oguna said the attack was part of a push by an African Union (AU) force to capture the city.
Residents told the BBC that al-Shabab was reinforcing its positions in the city and people had started to flee.
AU forces have vowed to capture Kismayo - a port city that is key to financing and arming the al-Qaeda affiliate.
The move on Kismayo comes as Somali MPs prepare to choose a new president under a UN-brokered peace plan.
The election is due on 10 September.

Reminds me on how Kenya launched an amphibious attack against Alshabaab in 2012, the efficacy was so systematic and sophisticated that left everyone shocked that we have such capability.

Kenya Defence Forces revealed how they unleashed their amphibious assault on Kismayu strong hold of Al Shabaab in their bid to neutralise the militants. The soldiers and alongside Somali National Army (SNA) are part of the Amisom troops who have been engaged in the fight against the militant group linked to Al Qaeda. The soldiers launched a beach attack at night which caught the militant unawares. Most residents were forced to stay indoors until mid morning as fierce exchange of fire rent the air.

Colonel Cyrus Oguna, Kenya’s military spokesman on Somali mission said Kenyan troops used “an amphibious operations which are complicated, delicate and highly dangerous to execute.” “KDF and Somali National Army undertook meticulous planning on the operations and executed it with utmost effectiveness never before seen in Africa, “Oguna said.
