I believe 2 things coincided to bring about the demise of Gaddhafi.

1. The Western Powers never bud him as he mostly was a sturbon pro-Easterner.
2. The People of Libya never wanted him b'coz he terrorize them, never mind they never elect him in the first place.

What is his legacy? Tough

By mere random attempt to answer it, his legacy at best is too controversial and inconsistence to wrest.
- He kickbacked some felons and influenced both -ve and + ve changes accross Africa;
- He paid and organized mass crimes in the name of Afro-solidarity but he also played leading-role in the formation of African Union.
- He further was so ambitious to visionaze the creation of African Govt (with him a potential first head of state) but camouflaged it by plant hate and discrimination in various societies and states.
- He developed and nourished the desert-like land into one of modern country but only by economic standards. He jailed and killed most of his political opponents but AU.
- He championed African rights but was spearing the untold murdering and killing of his own people even denied them any known form of freedorm or known form of justice apparatus.

After 42 yrs in power and Billions of dollars in Swiss banks, this was not a better way to say goodbye to his people. Kwa kweli Papa Ghadafi hakuwa mwanafunzi mzuri wa Marehemu Mwalimu Nyerere.

Watawala Kama hawa wa Kerri wajifunze, Gaddafi was the most powerful man in Africa lakini ameondolewa Tena kwa Aibu kubwa ya kuvuliwa nguo na kipigwa mateke, very embarassing for someone who has been in power for 42 yrs. Akina kikwete na wengine wajifunze kwamba mitutu,mabomu, majeshi, magereza, maji ya kuwasha nk kuna wakati vinashindwa.
Aliwaita panya, akasema wanatumia madawa ya kulevya, Leo panya wamemshika yy na familia na wanemuua. Wake maduu waliokuwa wanamlinda hawajulikani walipo.
This should be taken as a lesson, CCm wajifunze mapema.
