Ni kosa dogo tu. Abdulwahid alifariki Oktoba 1968. (naweza kusahihishwa mwezi)

Jasusi, mwanzoni nilitaka niendelee kudai kua Abdulwahid alifariki 1969.. lakini nilijua toka mwanzo wachache wangenipatga vizuri na huyu bwana alivyoingia na kudakia ndio kabisa nikajua point yangu haitaeleweka. Fikiria kama ningeendelea kudai kuwa Abdulwahid alifariki 1969?

[TD] Abdulwahid died in 1968 at a time when the country was torn in silent strife; there was tension between Muslims and the Christian dominated government in power.

The unity of the country, something which Abdulwahid had fought for throughout his life, was being threatened.

The unity of Muslims was on the brink of disintegration. There had been mass detention of Sheikhs under the Preventive Detention Act of 1962.

Some of these Sheikhs were Abdulwahid's political allies when he was trying to set up TANU.

Some of them supported Nyerere in those difficult early days of the struggle.

Abdulwahid's fellow member of the TAA political subcommittee, Mufti Sheikh Hassan bin Amir, who was held in high esteem by all Muslims, had been arrested on Nyerere's orders and deported to Zanzibar, his country of origin; the reason given for his deportation was that Sheikh Hassan bin Amir was ‘plotting to overthrow the government'.

[TD] Nyerere did not hear more about Abdulwahid until when he was informed of his death one Saturday evening on the 12 th October, 1968.

His wife Mama Maria Nyerere fainted upon getting the sad news. Abdulwahid was among the first people her and her husband had known when they came to Dar es Salaam.

[TD="width: 601"] The funeral of Abdulwahid was held on Sunday, 13 October, 1968, and was well attended.

Since the funeral of Sheikh Idrissa bin Saad, the founding Khalifa of Tariqa Askariya in the early 1950s, and that of Sheikh Kaluta Amri Abeid in 1963, Dar es Salaam had never witnessed such a funeral.

The whole Gerezani area, where Abdulwahid lived as a youth and from where he later launched the campaign against the British, stood still, including surrounding areas of Kariakoo, Mission Quarter and Kisutu.

Gerezani had a special significance to the people who came to mourn Abdulwahid.

None of the inner circle who founded TANU, with the exception of John Rupia, came from outside Gerezani.

Gerezani had come to bury its son.

People started to converge at his mother's house at Lindi Street where the body had been taken early in the morning.

And by noon it was as if the whole of Dar es Salaam was there.

Chief Abdallah Said Fundikira of Unyanyembe, who had studied with Abdulwahid in the same class at the Government School in 1930s and had performed the pilgrimage to Mecca together with him, flew from Nairobi to attend the funeral.

Walimkaribisha Dar es Salaam, wakamfunda na kumwingiza kwenye siasa, wakaasisi TANU na kumkabidhi akiongoze, wakamsaidia hela za kununulia mboga, wakamchangia hela za safari UNO, wakamwandikia hotuba ya kusoma akifika huko, wakamnusuru dhidi ya baadhi ya wazee wa Dar es Salaam waliotaka kumng'oa...

Baadaye akaanza ubaguzi wa Ujinga, akawanyima elimu, akawazuia kujenga chuo, akavunja jumuiya yao (EAMWS) na kuwasweka ndani, akawaundia BAKWATA bila hiari yao, akafuta historia yao, akajikweza kama mtakatifu...naam, Mohamed Said, malengo yanaonekana kutimia na ma zomba wanaongezeka kwa kasi, hongera sana.

Ingawa naiona kejeli lakini mimi nimeandika historia ya TANU na yale yaliyotokea
baada ya kuundwa kwake.

Nimeeleza asili ya TANU kutokea African Association na mchango wa kina Sykes
katika siasa za mji wa Dar es Salaam kuanzia miaka ya 1920 hadi uhuru ulipopatikana.

Nimeeleza Nyerere alipofahamiana na Abdu siasa zilikuwa katika kiwango kipi cha hamasa.
Nimeeleza matatizo yaliyojitokeza ndani ya TANU na nimeeleza vilevile mafanikio ndani ya
TANU na mchango wa Baraza la Wazee wa TANU.

Hili baraza kwa kweli ndilo lilipokea ule mzigo wa ufadhili wa TANU kutoka kwa wafadhili wake
wa asili Dossa, Mzee Rupia na Sykes brothers - Abdu na mdogo wake Ally.

Hapa ndipo walipoingia matajiri wengine: Mwinjuma Mwinyikambi, Mohamed Jumbe Tambaza,
Kiyate Mshume na wengine.

Hili la Mshume Kiyate na Nyerere la ''mboga'' kama Mag anavyokebehi ni kwa kuwa kwake yeye
ni shida kupata ile ''mood of the times.''

Wazee wangu wameishi katika nyakati hizi na ndiyo wamefanya mambo haya.
Ukiwasikia wenyewe wakihadithia ''sarcasm'' hii ya sasa itakusikitisha.

Kuhusu ile hotuba ya UNO kwa hakika ile document ni ya 1950 na iliandikwa na TAA Political Sub
Committee wajumbe wakiwa Sheikh Hassan bin Amir, Abdu Sykes, Dk Vedasto Kyaruzi, Hamza
Mwapachu, Steven Mhando, Said Chaurembo na John Rupia.

Hii document kwa sasa haipatikani popote.
Imepotea kote haipo Maktaba ya CCM Dodoma wala Nyaraka za Taifa.

Haya ya EAMWS na BAKWATA ni historia ambayo ina maelezo na yaliyotokea wengi wazee wa Dar
es Salaam wanayafahamu na ni katika doa kubwa sana katika historia ya maendeleo ya Waislam.

Propaganda nyingi ilisambazwa ya EAMWS na Sheikh Hassan bin Amir kula njama dhidi ya Nyerere nk.

Lakini leo hii Waislam tumepata fursa ya sisi nao kueleza upande wetu wa nini khasa kilisababisha
sintofahamu kati ya Nyerere na Waislam mara tu baada ya uhuru kupatikana.

Uzuri ni kuwa kila upande umeeleza kile kilichojiri.
Ni juu ya wasikilizaji sasa kupitisha uamuzi wao.

Msema kweli ni yupi.
 
Najua sana; na zote zinamuonesha Nyerere kama kipenzi cha Waislamu. Wakati wote wa maisha yake mamilioni ya Waislamu walikuwa na mapenzi naye. Maandishi yako yanashuhudia hili. Binafsi naamini kitabu chako kinapaswa kusomwa na kila na kila mtu ili wajue ni jinsi gani Baba wa Taifa alivyokuwa muungwana, mkweli, mwenye heshima na aliyependwa na watu wa kila rika. Kwa kile nilipokisoma kitabu chako na kuondoa zile "inasemekana" na "huenda" na "ilisemwa" basi kuna mambo matamu na manono kweli kweli mle. Masimulizi mengine of course yanakuja na ndimu na limau lakini kwa vile mtu wa pwani wewe natarajia lazima kuwe hivyo si ndivyo inavyokuwa kwa wote ambao tumekulia pwani.

Usisite kutuwekea visa hivi vya uungwana, heshima aliyokuwa nayo Mwalimu kwa wazee wote - bila kuwabagua na ukarimu wao kwake muda wote wa maisha yake na utumishi wake wa umma. Asante sana mzee kwa kutuonesha yale ambayo hatukuyajua kuhusu Baba wa Taifa. Kwa hili ubarikiwe sana.

Naomba uniruhusu swali moja hapa: Katika utafiti wako wote na katika mazungumzo na wazee wako wote kuna yeyote ambaye aliyemfahamu Nyerere kwa karibu amemtaja Nyerere kama mtu asiye na heshima, aliyekosa uungwana, na katili?

Dossa anasema Nyerere alikuwa mkweli sana katika fedha.

Hakuwa mfujaji wa fedha za chama na hata wakati mwingine
alipompa fedha za kutimiza majukumu yake binafsi kama hazikutumika
alimrudishia.

Kuna watu humu wanalalamika eti Mohamed Said anakesha JF.

Wakati anaaga wote walivaamia huu uzi na kuanza maneno kuwa amekimbia hii ndiyo JF watu hawakubali ngano zake.

Baada ya hayo maneno Mohamed Said akarudi jamvini kama kazaliwa upya sasa wanalalamika tena anakesha JF kwani imeandikwa wapi kwenye sheria na kanuni za JF ni marufuku kukesha.

Uzuri kaishawafahamu na anajua kila mtu muda wake wakuja jamvini.

Huu munakasha umeleta habari mpya huku mitaani kuna sehemu nilikuwa jana maeneo ya Upanga kuna watu walikuwa wanajadili huu munakasha. Kuna mmoja akasema amesoma na wewe chuo cha IFM ni kweli umeishawahi kusoma IFM.

Upande wa Sheikh Amir mbona hatujausikia! maana tumesoma yeye kuwekwa ndani na jinsi alivyoshiriki katika harakati.
Je, hayo yanatosha kusema kuwa Nyerere alikuwa mwendawazimu kumuonodoa bila sababu?

Sijui kama unakumbuka radical muslim katika kitabu chako na majaribio ya kumuondoa Nyerere katika uongozi mara mbili kwasababu tu ni mkristu. Je hilo kiongozi gani angelivumilia tena wakati wa kuongoza mapambano na baada ya uhuru?

Kuhusu mawazo yako na ukweli wa vitabu vyako, hayo yanabaki kuwa maoni yako. Nisichokubaliana nacho ni wewe kuyafanya kama ni ukweli na kuushindilia miongoni mwa wachache wasiobahatika kupata ufahamu wa kutosha, au wale walioamua kuweka akili zao rehani ikiwa ni pamoja na manazi, mashabiki na wapenzi wako.

Nisichokubaliana nawe ni kuzua maneno, kufinyanga ukweli na kuficha ukweli ulio wazi ili kujenga chuki na farki miongoni wa wananchi. Unafanya hivyo ukielewa kuwa maandiko yako yasiyo na kina (details na specific) yataamsha hisia hasa kwa wasiobahatika na hivyo kuzua vurugu.

Kibaya zaidi ni wewe kujivika joho la kuandika historia ya waislam wa Tanganyika kama ulivyosema hapo juu.
Lini waislam walikaa kitako na kukubaliana nawe kuwa mawazo yatokanayo na simulizi kutoka kwa wahenga na malenga wako ndio msimamo wa waislam.

Kwa vile ni maoni yako na yaheshimiwa, basi heshimu wengine kwa kuepuka na pengine kuacha kutumia maneno ''sisi waislam'' au kwa ''upande wetu''. Upande wako na nani?

Upande gani huku ukiita wengine wasaliti, wanafiki na wenye husda, vijiba na vijuha! wale wa upande wako ni wapi?
Ni nani amekwambia kuwa waislam wanakubaliana na vitabu vyako hivyo usimamie hoja zako kama zao.
