In his whole political career Nyerere was never again to face a more formidable opponent than Abdulwahid. This contest between Abdulwahid and Nyerere has become a legend.

Some reports have it that Abdulwahid won the election, others say Nyerere won by a single vote; yet others say that TAA members had to vote thrice to get the winner since the votes were tying.

Dossa Aziz reports that Abdulwahid did not lose that election, and went on to say that: ''There was no way Nyerere could defeat Abdulwahid in Dar es Salaam of 1950s. Abdulwahid was not defeated in that election. We all wanted it to be that way. We wanted Nyerere to assume TAA leadership.''

Wow, what hogwash and we are expected to believe this! What is this contest that we are told has become a legend... to who? Which contest are we talking about here;

The one in 1953 when Nyerere, an outsider who had no political base with no following among the majority Dar es Salaam Moslems who were in control of local politics wrested the leadership of TAA from its president Abdulwahid, the flamboyant and favourite local leader who who used to invite TAA activists to his house for lunches and dinners and this added to his popularity?

The one in 1954 when Nyerere an educated-Christian perceived to be loyal to the colonialists who many thought would not even fit into Abdulwahid's shoes once again denied the local favourite Abdulwahid the chance to be the first ever President of the newly formed TANU he had helped found, in an election that many people used their vote to show their objection to Nyerere?

Believe this and you will believe anything...even Lady macbeth's lies would have been made of sterner stuff! Now, if I may be allowed to say so, this was not anywhere near the challenges ever faced by the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, this was if anything a landslide victory and as Abdulwahid's brother Ally Sykes said at the time; "Here was a man we had all been waiting for!"

And to imagine that there are people who truly believe this!

Ni kweli walikuwapo Waislaam ambao kawakuridhika na uongozi wa Mwalimu...na mwaka 1958 moja wa watu hawa Chaurembo, aliamua kuwaunganisha Wasilaam dhidi ya Nyerere kwa kuanzisha chama kilichoitwa AMNUT. Moja wa wanachama wa mwanzo kabisa wa AMNUT aliitwa Salum Abdalla...lakini AMNUT haikufanikiwa katika malengo yake na Waislaam walio wengi walikataa kuiunga mkono. Huyu mtu ndiye aliyemlea Mohamed Said na hizo simulizi zake zote ni matunda ya malezi aliyoyapata huyu mchochezi.

Unajua hapa ndiyo ndugu yangu MS huwa unachokesha mjadala, ukiishiwa majibu juu ya hoja. Hujatoa majibu kwa maswali yangu ghafla umerukia kwenye kejeli za kienyeeji zisizo na mashiko za kijana wako amabazo wengine wakiandika unaita matusi. What's wrong with u guys?????????
