A,B,C can be companies or individual people. If A is a company, A might have shareholders as well, so shareholders of company A will not make decision for TOTAL, but can make decion for company A. Therefore only company A can make decision for TOTAL. and not shareholders of company A.
also, if CA is second largest shareholder of amondi other shareholders can go againts CA during voting, for example CA hold 30% of amondi, the other 70% holders can simply go against CA during voting and win the decision

The problem with you is that you acknowledge that BlackRock has more voting power and influence in TOTAL than Amundi but fail to acknowledge the same about the relationship between CA and Amundi. Just as BlackRock calls the shots in TOTAL by virtue of its majority ownership, so does CA in Amundi. Your problem is, you are not setting a clear limit or interface between one entity and another.
If CA would be a majority shareholder of BlackRock, a majority shareholder in TOTAL, the story could be different. Now CA is a majority shareholder of Amundi a second largest shareholder in TOTAL. The influence of CA in TOTAL is still limited. Again CA cannot table its agenda directly to TOTAL AGM. It has to do that through Amundi. Since Amundi has less voting muscles compared to BlackRock in TOTAL, their wish will in most cases depend on how BlackRock see the things. It is not easy as you think CA vide Amundi to dictate the terms.
