Waziri Mkuu Sheikh Hasina ameripotiwa kujiuzulu na kuondoka katika mji mkuu wa Dhaka wakati kukiwa na maandamano makali ya kumtaka ajiuzulu

Uamuzi huo umekuja ikiwa ni muda mfupi tangu Umoja wa Mataifa uitake serikali kusitisha mara moja machafuko yanayoendelea nchini humo ambayo yamesababisha vifo vya takriban watu 200, wakiwemo maafisa wa Polisi.

Umoja wa Mataifa umeitaka Serikali ya Bangladesh kumaliza machafuko yaliyosababisha vifo vya raia zaidi 90, wakiwemo polisi 13, kufuatia vurugu za Agosti 4, 2024.

Maandamano hayo yalianza Julai 2024 juu ya malalamiko kuhusu mgawo wa nafasi za kazi serikalini na kutaka Waziri Mkuu Sheikh Hasina ajiuzulu.

Ghasia hizo zimepelekea takriban watu 11,000 kuwekwa jela, huku shule na vyuo vikifungwa na upatikanaji wa huduma za intaneti kuzuiwa toka Julai 2024.

Samia pledges TZ-Bangladesh stronger ties

SALAAM: PRESIDENT Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan on Monday pledged to take Tanzania-Bangladesh - bilateral ties to greater heights.

President Samia made the promise as she congratulated Sheikh Hasina Wazed for being re-elected as the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for a straight fourth term.


“On behalf of the government and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina Wazed, on being re-elected as the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh” Dr Samia wrote on her X handle (formerly Twitter).

“I am looking forward to taking Tanzania -Bangladesh bilateral ties to greater heights” she stated.

Mis Hasina (76) won a fourth straight term to serve five years period in power by sweeping Sunday’s general election, which was boycotted by the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for the second time in the last three polls.


Ms Hasina’s party won 200 seats in the 300-seat parliament while counting is still underway after the end of the day-long voting.

Umoja wa Mataifa umeitaka Serikali ya Bangladesh kumaliza machafuko yaliyosababisha vifo vya raia zaidi 90, wakiwemo polisi 13, kufuatia vurugu za Agosti 4, 2024.

Maandamano hayo yalianza Julai 2024 juu ya malalamiko kuhusu mgawo wa nafasi za kazi Serikalini na kutaka Waziri Mkuu Sheikh Hasina ajiuzulu.

Ghasia hizo zimepelekea takriban watu 11,000 kuwekwa jela, huku shule na vyuo vikifungwa na upatikanaji wa huduma za intaneti kuzuiwa toka Julai 2024.

Samia ampongeza Sheikh Hasina Wazed kwa ushindi wake wa kishindo

Rais Samia alitoa ahadi hiyo alipokuwa akimpongeza Sheikh Hasina Wazed kwa kuchaguliwa tena kuwa Waziri Mkuu wa Jamhuri ya Watu wa Bangladesh kwa muhula wa nne moja kwa moja.

"Kwa niaba ya serikali na wananchi wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, natoa pongezi zangu za dhati kwa Mheshimiwa Sheikh Hasina Wazed, kwa kuchaguliwa tena kuwa Waziri Mkuu wa Jamhuri ya Watu wa Bangladesh," Dk Samia aliandika kwenye X yake. kushughulikia (zamani Twitter).

"Ninatarajia kufikisha uhusiano kati ya Tanzania na Bangladesh kwa urefu zaidi" alisema.

Mis Hasina (76) alishinda kwa muhula wa nne mfululizo kuhudumu kwa kipindi cha miaka mitano madarakani kwa kufagia uchaguzi mkuu wa Jumapili, ambao ulisusiwa na chama kikuu cha upinzani cha Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) kwa mara ya pili katika kura tatu zilizopita.


Chama cha Bi Hasina kilishinda viti 200 katika bunge lenye viti 300 huku shughuli ya kuhesabu kura bado ikiendelea baada ya kumalizika kwa upigaji kura wa siku nzima.

Yeye ni binti wa baba mwanzilishi wa nchi Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, ambaye aliongoza uhuru wa Bangladesh kutoka Pakistan.

Mwezi Novemba 2022 Tanzania ilikubaliana na Bangladesh kufanya kazi katika kilimo, uchumi wa bluu na sekta nyingine za kiuchumi kupitia kuanzisha mawasiliano rasmi.


Tanzania ilionyesha nia ya kujua kuhusu ufugaji wa samaki, sekta za uvuvi, sekta ya ujenzi wa meli na sekta ya bustani ya Bangladesh.

Pia walisisitiza umuhimu wa kubadilishana wajumbe wa biashara ili kuendeleza biashara na uchumi wao.

Aliyekuwa Waziri wa Muungano wa Mifugo na Uvuvi wakati huo Mashimba Ndaki na Waziri wa Uchumi wa Bluu na Uvuvi Zanzibar Abdullah Hussein Kombo walikutana na Waziri wa Mambo ya Nje wa Bangladesh Dk AK Abdul Momen katika ukumbi wa Ikulu ya Padma nchini humo na kujadiliana njia za kupanua ushirikiano huo.


Mawaziri wote wawili walikuwa wakitembelea Dhaka kwa ajili ya kushiriki katika Baraza la Mawaziri la 21 la Jumuiya ya Rim ya Bahari ya Hindi (IORA) na mikutano inayohusiana nayo.

Dkt Momen alisema kuwa chini ya uongozi wenye maono wa Baba wa Taifa Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh imepata maendeleo ya ajabu ya kijamii na kiuchumi.

Pia alisema chini ya uongozi makini wa Waziri Mkuu Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh imeweza kupata mafanikio makubwa katika kilimo na maeneo ya kijamii na kiuchumi.


Katika kikao hicho, pande zote mbili zilikubaliana kushirikiana katika sekta tofauti za kilimo, zikiwemo za uvuvi, mifugo na kilimo cha bustani.

Mwaka 2021, Bangladesh iliuza bidhaa dola za Marekani milioni 2.32 kwa Tanzania. Bidhaa kuu zilizosafirishwa kutoka Bangladesh hadi Tanzania ni Packing Bags (dola za Kimarekani 742,000), Dawa Zilizofungashwa (Dola za Kimarekani 736,000) na Betri za Umeme (dola za Kimarekani 193,000).

Katika mwaka huo huo, Tanzania iliuza nje dola za Marekani milioni 10.1 kwenda Bangladesh. Bidhaa kuu zilizosafirishwa kutoka Tanzania kwenda Bangladesh ni Pamba ghafi (dola za Kimarekani milioni 4.41), mazao aina ya kunde iliyokaushwa (dola za Kimarekani milioni 3.19) na pumba (makapi) (dola za Kimarekani milioni 1.04).


Katika kipindi cha miaka 26 iliyopita mauzo ya Bangladesh kwenda Tanzania yameongezeka kwa kiwango cha kila mwaka cha asilimia 5.68, kutoka dola 552,000 za Marekani mwaka 1995 hadi dola za Marekani milioni 2.32 mwaka 2021 huku mauzo ya Tanzania kwenda Bangladesh yameongezeka kwa kiwango cha mwaka cha 32. asilimia , kutoka dola 749000 za Marekani mwaka 1995 hadi dola za Marekani milioni 10.1 mwaka 2021.

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country in the face of ongoing protests.
The longtime leader of the country has boarded a military helicopter, an aide told Al Jazeera, after crowds ignored a national curfew to storm the prime minister’s palace in Dhaka on Monday.

Close to 300 people have died amid weeks of protest the authorities have sought to crush. Following a night of deadly violence that killed close to 100 on Sunday, tension had remained high on Monday as protesters called for a march on Dhaka and the army prepared to address the nation.

By early afternoon, however, media reported that the mood on the streets had turned to one of celebration after the news of Hasina’s departure spread.

In an address to the nation, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Army Staff, confirmed that the prime minister has resigned and that an interim government will now run the country.

He urged citizens to keep trust in the army, which, he said, would return peace to the country.

“We will also ensure that justice is served for every death and crime that occurred during the protests,” he said, calling on the public to exercise patience and cease any acts of violence and vandalism.

“We have invited representatives from all major political parties, and they have accepted our invitation and committed to collaborating with us,” the general added.

Images on national television showed thousands of people breaking into the prime minister’s official residence. It also showed large crowds of protesters out in the street in scenes of jubilation as the news of the departure of Hasina started spreading.

Al Jazeera’s Tanvir Chowdhury, reporting from Shahbag Square – the epicentre of the student protesters – said he has “never witnessed something like this” in the capital.

“Students and families with their children out celebrating, checking if she has either left the country or resigned,” Chowdhury said. “The government has most likely fallen, and the army will decide what the next step is, which is probably an interim government,” he added.

Protests in the country started a months ago over controversial governmental job quotas. They soon morphed into a nationwide unrest and into an unprecedented uprising against Hasina and her ruling Awami League party.
