As a CEO of PW, alikuwa nahusika direct with operations, performance , he was buying manager for Pw, responsible to direct the company to thrieve, maamuzi yake influenced the company as a whole, the question now is, why these appointed CEO"s tend to kill the sprit of these companies unsteady of running them to better performance , why should we accept them kama watangulizi waliharibu badala ya kujenga.

My dear president, Minister of Labour and Dr Makakala, I first declare that I don't have any ulterior motive against Ms Sylvia. I am also not interested with her position . Was this position advertised? Couldn't they find a Tanzanian suitable to fill this position?
Can someone please read what Gezaulole described above, and at least save us from another possible double-trouble?

Inawezekana lakini mimi niko coporate na moja ya skills muhimu ni communication. Tunatakiwa kufanya presentations, case studies, offer persuasive counter arguements etc katika mazingira ya kazi na biashara. Usipuuzie hiyo skill. Nime-interview watu wanonyesha grade kwenye cheti nzuri lakini hawana utashi wa kumshughulikia mteja.

Hao sio asset. Sasa huenda ulikutana na nyang'auz lakini wa-TZ wengi huwa ttunasema hivyo 'as an excuse'. The other issue is attitude. Naona watu kibao wanalalamika mkenya kwenye private sector kuwekwa CEO. How ridiculous is that? Unafikiri shareholders wa Vodacom wanataka kupoteza hela waweke zwazwa? Mbona aliyepita hamkulalamika? Alikuwa Mtanzania? Sisi tumemtoa CEO mwenye experience TTCL tumeweka banker kwa sababu ana masters na kuvaa shati la kijani

So your arguement is, kwa sababu CEO wa PW unona alifeli na ni mkenya, basi all Kenyan CEOs will fail?

BTW all CEOs are appointed by the board who represent shareholders. There is nothing new here

In the pretext of good communication and presentation skills, Tanzanians have not been given an opportunity to work and demonstrate their capabilities. A number of foreigners without or with moderate skills got contracts and lucrative jobs in Tanzania. It is a painful thing to see foreigners employed as librarians, teachers, even bank tellers. I agree that correct attitude is key, however, there are quite a number of Tanzanians with impressive skills and attitudes. The question is, why Sylvia?

For your uneducated mind,Safaricom is a breeding ground of talent and a convergent of best brains any telco can assemble!
Yale,Harvard and MIT all have Safaricom as their case study on how best to push socio-economic agenda using telcos.
You cite akina Viatel and Deutch Telecom as if they're the Poster Boys in the field forgetting that Safcom and Voda Tz have much in common in the market segment they serve. Technical wise they are all at per with any other telco peer in the world!

Stop your inferiority complex!

There are rules and there exceptions to the rule. You cant site exceptions as an arguement against the rule. Naamini wapo foreingers wakutosha ambao sio competent. What has this got to do with Sylvia? Her CV is public knowledge. Saafricom CBU ni kama Vodacom Tanzania nzima. Safaricom inaingiza mara kumi ya revenue za TZ.

Ni kawaida sana katika group of compnies kutoa talent one place that is perfoming well to another smaller entity. Watanzania wametoka Telecom za hapa ni kuenda kuongoza departments in other countries kama Sierra Leone ambazo ni ndogo. The same has happened in other industries in the country. The question of why Sylvia, lies in her CV. What I am curious to know is WHY NOT SYLVIA? Yaani one would think there was an obvious, better qualified candidate that was passed over based on the noise

Vodacom senior management wameondoka wengi for various reasons na kuendesha kampuni kama Vodacom, inabidi uwe 'tested' ndio maana uzoefu wake kusimamia division yenye ukubwa wa VodaTZ ni muhimu. Ni part of the 'winning team' of Safaricom who will bring learnings. So to answer your question...no hakuwepo
