No afadhali huku wanatuambia hayo ma sgr, ndege, umeme, nk ni vitu vya kuonekana; kule kwingine ndo basi kabisa, hakuna cha sera, miundombinu, waka nini, tunachosikia ni porojo, kulialia, kulalamika, kubeza, kutukana, nk. Mi nilidhani ungeanza kuwahoji hao kwanza ili watuambie watatufanyia nini!
 
Tatizo tulisema kabla ya COVID19 kwamba ndege si kipaumbele cha Watanzania. Ni biashara ambayo ni ngumu sana na mashirika mengi duniani yanapata hasara kubwa na kuishia kufa au kuungana.
Kwa hivyo ahadi hiyo ya mwaka 2015 iliyotolewa na UKAWA ilikuwa ni uwongo? Je tuendelee kuamini kila wanalosema?

Contract kati ya serikali na raia ni kuwa raia wanalipa kodi, serikali inatoa huduma kubwa ambazo haziwezi kutolewa na mtu mmoja mmoja; kwa mfano miundombinu mbalimbali, ulinzi, usalama, na uwakilishi kimataifa. Hiyo miradi ni ile ambayo haiwezi kufanywa na mtu mmoja hapa nchini, kwa hiyo inakuwa ni jukumu la serikali kuitimiza. Hata British Airways wakati huo ikiitwa (BOAC) ilikuwa ya serikali kwanza kabla ya kubinafsishwa baada ya kuimarika na kuchochea mashirika binafsi, Japan Railways (JR) ilikuwa ya serikali kwanza hadi ilipoimarika ndipo ikabinafsishwa na kuchochea mashirika binafsi kama KEIO. Usione wenzako wanaenedelea ukadhani kuwa maendeleo yale yalikuwa bure bila mkono wa serikali. Ninachoomba tu, tafadhali usije ukafanya madhara kwenye ndege zile kwa sababu unazichukia; zinatusadiadia sana hata wale wasioweza kuzipanda bado wanapata huduma kutokana na usafiri wa haraka. Mama ntilie mtaani kwangu siku hizi hapo mtaani wanapika ugali kwa samaki freshi wa mwanza kutokana na uwepo wa ndege hizo.

Considering the vital nature of the service it provides and its invaluable contribution to making the world a smaller place, why is the airline industry synonymous with ongoing losses and insolvency? We list four reasons why airlines are always struggling.

Unprofitable Airlines Continue to Fly
An industry that has been known to be unprofitable for decades would be eventually forced by market participants to undergo consolidation and rationalization in an attempt to find a better way to do business. Not so for the airline industry, for whom this basic business precept does not seem to fly, so to speak. Many unprofitable airlines continue to remain in business despite years of substantial losses, because various stakeholders cannot afford to let them close.
Closing down a large unprofitable airline would involve the loss of thousands of jobs, inconvenience to hundreds of thousands of travelers, and millions in losses for the airline's creditors. Not to mention the loss of national pride if the airline in question is a national carrier.

Because closing down a floundering airline is a politically unpalatable decision, governments will usually provide it with a financial lifeline to stay in business. But struggling airlines often have to resort to cut-throat pricing to fill up their excess capacity, and as a result, even the stronger players in the industry are adversely affected by this lack of pricing power.

High Fixed and Variable Costs
Aircraft are very expensive pieces of equipment, and airlines have to continue making large lease or loan repayments regardless of business conditions. Large commercial jets can have a lifetime as long as 25-30 years. Airlines also need large labor forces to run their complex operations, making payroll expenses another component of relatively fixed costs that have to be incurred month after month. Volatility in oil prices is yet another challenge that airlines have to contend with (See also: 4 Ways Airlines Hedge Against Oil). Add in security costs that have skyrocketed after 9/11, and it is apparent that few airlines can surmount the formidable obstacle of their high-cost structure.

Bankruptcy is not a function of industry but rather a result of companies failing to compete in the business arena. USA has hundreds of airlines, so you expect stiff competition where some compnaies will survive and some will perish. The airline industry in Tanzania is not subject to such competition since there are no airlines to compete. Don't copy the American airline industry model and bring it one-to-one to Tanzania!
 
I don’t answer stupid questions. The discussion was about ATCL’s aircraft which are mostly idle right now and therefore accumulating huge losses it has nothing to do what UKAWA said or did not say few years ago. Stick to the discussion on point otherwise keep quiet.

Then you bring generic Wikipedia analysis of the airline industry in USA and take it to Tanzania one to one; you don't seem to even know the business model used by US airline insdustry other than what you read at Wikipedia. You don't know that USA has regional airlines and mainline passenger airlines, and you also do not now that most of the regional airlines are subcontractors of those mainline passenger airlines. Finally you don't know that most of the failing airlines in USA are those regional airlines.

You don't know that difficulties of running any business depend on the target market. To the extereme, I can run a good Khanga business in Tanzania but it does not work the same way in USA; and also I can run a good baseball business in USA but it does not work in Tanzania.
