Thankfully, Kenyans rarely allow wivu to cloud their judgement like this. Decisions are taken based on merit or financial impact. If you would rather spend asilimia 50 zaidi kwa sababu ya wivu/chuki then you are most welcome. Its little wonder investors go elsewhere.

JAMANI...Tanzania ya viwanda ni wewe na mkeo na watoto wako, full stop.

Back in the 90's Kenya used be the power house for motor assembly in EA, 2nd hand cars imports is what killed the industry but I can see we are slowly getting back on our feet. Welcome Volvo.

Hapo kweli KIDUNUNDU. A fair, market price deal which is a win win for both parties is the way to go. Shida ni kwamba wabongo wengine hufikiri a win win deal is actually them losing sababu ni wao wenye mali ghafi.

Tanzania hatuna utaratibu mzuri wa kuvutia wawekezaji; huwa tunategemea wajilete wenyewe. Kenya inatumia nguvu sana kuwavutia kwao, sehemu kubwa ya kazi za mabalozi wa Kenya ni kuwavututia wawekezaji na watalii, wakati sehemu kubwa ya kazi za mabalozi wa Tanzania ni ....eeh!! .. sijui !

Nadhani mfano mzuri ni ule wa bomba la mafuta kutoka Uganda jinsi Kenya ilivyopambana sana ili lipite kwao. Kenya ni nchi ya mapambano kiuchumi, siyo nchi ya kutegemea bahati kama sisi!
 
Someone told me Tanzania and Uganda one can import a car past 8 years old, if it's true that's a major problem.
Major problem how? That seems to be Narrow think, Purchase of Brand New Cars is about purchasing power, and not much about substitute.
so make me understand, how will small start ups survive before their big breaks?, did you know in kenya you can own a company and file nil returns?

But just the other day I heard the CAG complain about a loss-making company that has never paid any taxes yet they haven't closed shop. I think though the law might be in place there is not much happening in terms of implementation.

Napenda kujuzwa kuna nini cha ziada ambacho hatuna sisi Tanzania kampuni zote za magari wameamua kuunda viwanda vyao nchini Kenya na sio Tanzania kwa ajili ya kuhudumia soko la ukanda wa Afrika Mashariki.

Walianza Toyota, wakaja Volkswagen, Peugeot, Ashok Leyland, Iveco now Volvo pia wametangaza jana kufungua kiwanda Mombasa.

I thought ukiwa Tanzania unaweza kuaccess soko la SADC na EAC kwa pamoja. Why are we not using that to our advantage? Tatizo liko wapi? Ni umeme, maji, business start-up procedures au tax incentives?

Ninachojua kuwa na viwanda vya kuassemble magari ni very big business ambayo sisi watanzania hatutakiwi kupuuza hata kidogo.

Nishauri tu serikali ifanye study jinsi ya kuvutia uwekezaji kwenye hii sekta ya kuassemble magari tuchangamkie before its too late. Pia kwenye textile & apparel pamoja na pharmaceuticals.

kwa mawazo yangu nadhani viwanda vingi uwaangalia awareness ya market ilivyo,target market,kipato cha watu, na currency value.
1)Tanzania can be easy/cheap to assemble kutokana na cheap labor lakini ikawa ngumu kuuza as the price of the new vehicles ni juu sana sana..
2)watanzania bado ni ngumu sana kupata mikopo yaani banking systems zetu bado sana kutokana na system mbovu serikalini na mabenki.
3)juzi nilisikia mbunge mmoja anaongea kuhusu TAX, tax structure yetu bado ina matatizo makubwa
4)vipato vya watanzania wengi bado ni matatizo itawawia vigumu kuuza magari mapya maana magari mapya ni very expensive....corolla 2016 inaweza fika million 20-30 kwa vipato vyetu vidogo ni wachache sana wangeweza kukopa bank na kuanza kulipa makato yangekuwa makubwa sana na magari yasingeuzika kama sasa

5)kenya wanaenda sana na trend kwa vitu vingi..na makampuni mengi yanasaidia katika vehicle financing..process haina usumbufu sana kama huku na vipato vyao ni vizuri na hela yao ina thamani hai fluctuate sana kama yetu
 
Wajenge Kenya halafu soko wategemee Tanzania ndio plan zao. Tanzania one piga bana ya kueleweka hizo gari ziwe na kodi kubwa kuliko hata bei za magari yenyewe wapuuzi hao. Tutaenda Japan au South maana hakuna namna.
