Kulikuwa na phase kabla ya 2015..imewekwa on hold .ilikuwa ya kujenga Berth Mpya 3 container terminals at a cost of 600 mil Usd by that time...Keep giving urself hopes ati Dar capacity will be limited at 28 mln tones! As if no other phases for expansion!

In total cargo throughput, the Port recorded 1.4 per cent growth in the year 2018 compared to the previous year. The total cargo volume through the Port of Mombasa therefore was 30,759,854 tons in the period January to December 2018 against 30,344,370 tons recorded in the corresponding period in , which translates to an increment of 415,484 tons.

Infact watu hua wanafikiria Lamu port itakuja kuishinda Mombasa port lakini ukisoma hio ripoti utaona vile Mombasa port bado itabaki kua biggest port upande huu wa Eastern Africa seaboard manake itaendelea kupanuliwa kila mwaka hadi 2032-2035.
