Hili ndo lengo lenu

-------
The Port of Mombasa experienced a 9.8 per cent container traffic growth registering 1,306,283 twenty foot equivalent units – an inexact unit of cargo capacity often used to describe the capacity of container ships and container terminals. – during the period January – December 2018 against 1,189, 957 TEUs handled in the same period in 2017.

In total cargo throughput, the Port recorded 1.4 per cent growth in the year 2018 compared to the previous year. The total cargo volume through the Port of Mombasa therefore was 30,759,854 tons in the period January to December 2018 against 30,344,370 tons recorded in the corresponding period in , which translates to an increment of 415,484 tons.
--------

Natumai unaelewa tofauti ya Capacity na what you actually handled.

Minister irked by TRC procurement delay of locomotive spare parts
TANZANIA Railways Corporation (TRC) has been directed to procure spare parts to rehabilitate locomotives in time in order to improve the country’s rail transport system.
trcc%20ed.jpg

Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications eng Atashasta Nditiye.
Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications eng Atashasta Nditiye issued the directives yesterday during his visit at the Morogoro TRC workshop and saw ongoing repair work of locomotives.

He also visited assembly workshop of seven new locomotives being performed by SMH Rail from Malaysia in collaboration of Tanzanian engineers.

During his visit the minister discovered that TRC normally takes a long time to make purchases of spare parts and oil for completion of repair work of locomotives
“You have to stop that habit. If there are challenges of payments for spare parts, the TRC management must work on that,” he said.

He said there was no reason for taking over three months to obtain locomotive spare parts after which engineers take two month to repair one locomotive.

“We are thankful at this workshop we have experts who are ready to work hard to ensure our trains run smoothly and are also ready to train the youth so that they can later take over the job,” he said.

On his part, the TRC Morogoro workshop manager Eng. Edgar Bakuza admitted over the existence of challenges facing the procurement of spare parts for locomotives at the workshop, saying they were working hard in collaboration of the TRC management and other stakeholders to solve the challenges and” we believe soon the issue will be history,” he explained.

He said they are continuing renovating seven shunting locomotives at the railways yards and added that after the arrival of vital spare parts that are on their way, the work will be completed within the timeframe.

He said the seven shunting locomotives will relieve ordinary locomotives from shunting to be used for normal hauling of trains to upcountry.

TRC director for administration and human resources Halima Lumuli also admitted the existence of challenges facing procurement of spare parts but promised they will work hard to ensure TRC runs smoothly.

She also added that TRC will ensure workers’ welfare is improved including training of mechanics at the workshop for better TRC operations.

Kenya has only 1 port in use which is also Uganda's Main port of entry.
Tanzania + znbar has 4 ports combined.
Once TZ makes their central corridor cheaper & faster forget about UG cargo

The question is why hasn't Tanzania done that yet !!!

U have to know Kenya got dorminant in transportation of Ugandan cargo when Tanzania neglected her superiority in water transport in Lake Victoria! But with rehabilitation of her ships n ports around Lake Victoria n two new wagon ferries U/C! The dynamics will change especially after SGR to Mwanza n pipeline to Tanga r ready!

Bad leadership for 35 years. The only time Tz Was ahead of Ke in GDP or anything else was the Nyerere era.
4 years of Jpm & there is real progress. For the first time Tz total money committed to infrastructure is almost double that of kenya..
Jpm needs 5 more to set the base

exactly during Nyerere era, we had a good chunk of Ugandan cargo!

Bomoeni basi mjenge Mgr

Fool Tanzania is not ur level! Its has geographical comparative advantage! U should have fought to get ur SGR to Rwanda but corruption made u lose Rwanda a stategic gateway to eastern DRC! If the SGR get to Rwanda and Uganda pipeline reaches Tanga, there is no way Tanzania SGR will be underutilized! As the oil pipeline to Tanga will come with cargo! and the way it looks South Sudan might also come along!

☝SGR Kenya at 134 km/hr
those r trials Mr first class fool! Our SGR trials will be 200 km/h! with safety parameters under consideration, ur SGR is designed to handle trains moving at 120km/h! actually ur PAX trains r moving at an average speed of 110 km/h!

jamaa ukisoma comments zake unaona kabsa ana wivu.. na unamuuma kweli!
ni pale anapofananisha potentials za Tanzania na Kenya wakati JPM "anafanza" mambo anajenga ports all over the lakes navyojua mimi kuna ujenzi wa badandari zisizopungua nne Lake Victoria U/C, zisizopungua nne Lake Tanganyika na zisizopungua mbili lake Nyasa ukaiachia mbali ICDs Kigoma, Mbeya, Isaka, Kwala ukiachia mbali the 3 sea ports! hapo hatujaongelea meli zinazojengwa!

During trials ilifika 158km/hr...
And do you know how average speed is calculated? They take the total length of the track and divide it by time.... Thats how they get the average speed, it doesn't matter if they slowed down for 100km, or they stopped for 5 minutes to let another train pass along the way...etc as long as if you devide the distance by time.. that's the average speed... So I don't know where you came up with the 110km/hr number cause Madaraka Express is always on timewhich means the average speed 120km.hr

You have always had the so called "Geographical advantage".. It did not stop JKIA from being the business and the airline hub of EA.. It did not stop Mombasa port from being the logistical hub of EA.

And you do realize that if oil pipeline to Tanga leads to the development of Tanga port and Uganda starts using Tanga port for cargo, it will mean less cargo for Dar port which is the one that has the SGR connection. So if Tanga deals in more cargoit means less business ffor the SGR.... This is the reason why Ethiopia cancelled the construction of an oil pipeline from Djibouti port to adis ababa so that their SGR can benefit from transporting the oil using oil wagons..

wacha upumbavu! Dar port is way connected to SADC than even to Uganda less than 10% of Ugandan cargo uses central corridor! As a matter of fact u should be worried since the pipeline will take away cargo from northern corridor!

Kenya has only 1 port in use which is also Uganda's Main port of entry.
Tanzania + znbar has 4 ports combined.
Once TZ makes their central corridor cheaper & faster forget about UG cargo
Dar port handles like 93% - 97% of all the cargo, the rest of the ports handle the rest....

While Mombasa port handles more cargo than all the ports in TZ combined!!

Bandari zote kuanzia Djibouti hadi SA zilipigwa darubini ikiwemo future expansion plans

Bagamoyo port

1582794438835.png

1582794506594.png

Tuli anticipate expansion plans za Dgibouti, Somaliland, Somalia, Tanzania, Mozambique na SA.... Bandari zote za hizo nchi zilichambuliwa kiundani......
Hapo Tanzania tuliona hizo project zote mlizokua mnapanga na tukazitia akilini wakati tunapanga kupanua bandari zetu au kujenga mpya....
Ukiangalia hio bagamoyo pekee, inafaa kua ina uwezo wa ku handle 1.9 Million TEU by 2030, hio ni karibia 35-40 Million tonnes p.a!!!! mliamua ku cancel hio project, badala yake mtaendelea kupanua bandari za Dar, Tanga, Mtwara..etc lakini ukiangalia huo upanuzi hautafikia hata robo ya capacity ya bagamoyo... Sisi huku tulikua tuna anticipate mtapanua hizo bandari zote kisha juu yake muongeze 1.9Million TEU za bagamoyo, bila hio bagamoyo hamna lengine la kututishia..
