Lutero Simango akihutubia katika mkutano wake wa kampeni, alisisitiza kuwa mzunguko wa kupokezana kijiti cha uongozi kidemokrasia kupitia chama kinachokubalika na wananchi kuongoza serikali "ni sharti la lazima kwa mabadiliko nchini Msumbiji".

Chama cha pili kwa ukubwa cha upinzani nchini Msumbiji, Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), Jumapili kilimchagua kiongozi wake, Lutero Simango, kama mgombea wake wa uchaguzi wa urais uliopangwa kufanyika tarehe 9 Oktoba 2024.


Simango ni kaka ya Daviz Simango, mwanzilishi wa MDM, aliyefariki Februari 2021. Yeye ni Rais wa MDM na kiongozi wa kundi lake la wabunge.
Alichaguliwa kuwa mgombea urais wa chama Jumapili mchana, katika siku ya mwisho ya mkutano wa Baraza la Kitaifa la MDM, uliofanyika katikati mwa jiji la Beira. Simango hakupingwa -wajumbe wote 80 wa Baraza walimpigia kura.


Akizungumza mara baada ya uchaguzi huo, Simango aliwashukuru wajumbe wa Baraza la Taifa kwa imani waliyomwekea.


"Ni heshima na jukumu", alisema. "Na ni changamoto ya pamoja ya chama chetu kukabiliana na chaguzi hizi".

"Lengo letu ni kushinda mamlaka ya kisiasa kupitia utaratibu wa kidemokrasia, na hii itafanyika sasa, tarehe 9 Oktoba", Simango alitangaza.

Ossufo Momade, kiongozi na mgombea urais wa chama kikuu cha upinzani nchini Msumbiji, Renamo, alirejea Maputo Ijumaa mchana baada ya kukosa wiki nzima ya kwanza ya kampeni za uchaguzi wa rais, wabunge na majimbo uliopangwa kufanyika tarehe 9 Oktoba.

Kulingana na ripoti katika jarida huru la "Carta de Mocambique", Momade aliwasili katika uwanja wa ndege wa kimataifa wa Maputo kwa ndege ya Shirika la Ndege la Ethiopia, akifuatana na mke wake. Alisafiri darasa la biashara.

Hakuna maelezo mengine yanayojulikana bado. Renamo haijasema kiongozi wake alikuwa wapi. Inashukiwa kuwa alienda nje ya nchi kwa sababu za kimatibabu, lakini msemaji wa Renamo, Marciel Maccome, alikanusha vikali hilo.

Macome alidai kuwa Momade alikuwa kwenye "dhamira ya kisiasa", lakini hakutoa maelezo.
Momade anatarajiwa kuzindua kampeni zake za uchaguzi mwishoni mwa wiki hii, lakini tayari ameshapoteza mwelekeo kwa wagombea wengine watatu wa urais - Daniel Chapo wa Chama tawala cha Frelimo, Lutero Simango wa Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), na mgombea binafsi na aliyekuwa Renamo. mwanachama, Venâncio Mondlane.

In this video, Judge Chizumila, a former Malawian refugee in Tanzania, shares the story of becoming a refugee, following the infamous Malawian “Cabinet Crises” of 1964, and the uplifting narrative of her transition into an accomplished product of Tanzania's refugee hosting record, overcoming personal strife and institutionalized gendered obstacles. Her story celebrates Malawian excellence and years of dedicated service to local and international humanitarian agencies. Judge Chizumila discusses the education of refugees in Tanzania and a scholarship for further studies in Germany; her professional growth as a returnee to the Malawian civil service as a state attorney; her humanitarian works with Save the Children U.S.-Federation, UNHCR; and her private legal profession. The grace-to-grass-to-grace story features many trailblazing firsts for female and gender rights advocacy in Malawi: her appointments as Ambassador to Zimbabwe and the South African Development Corporation (SADC); Judge of the Malawian High Court; first female Ombudsman for Malawi; and post-retirement consecutive appointments as Judge of the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.

Uwezo Ramazani | 60 Years of Hosting Refugees: A Tanzanian Narrative

In this video, Uwezo Ramazani, from the DRC, shares his lived experience as a former refugee in Tanzania. A refugee in Tanzania in 1999, his captivating story traces his refuge at the Nyarugusu camp and the challenges of accessing Tanzanian secondary school education, and being awarded two scholarships - one, a NAF scholarship to pursue a degree program, and another a scholarship to pursue a Master's program, all in Tanzania. Ramazani also discusses the grey areas of Tanzania's refugee hosting record which is based on the policy of "encampment" and lays bare the legal restrictions placed on refugee movements in and out of camp, together with its latent obstructions preventing an easier integration and access of the Tanzanian job market. Nonetheless, in his estimation, the Tanzanian refugee experience is notable for its welcoming warmth, its former provision of parcels of farmlands to refugees, and its educational opportunities for refugees. In an effort to partner international humanitarian organizations, Ramazani highlights individual and refugee group initiatives to provide among others, educational and food services at the Nyarugusu camp. Biography:Uwezo Ramazani is a researcher based in Tanzania with lived experience of displacement. Previously, he was Tanzania Lead Researcher for a study of refugee-led organizations in East Africa on behalf of the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN) at Carleton University and the Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH) at the University of Oxford. Earlier, he worked with Resilience Action International (RAI), a refugee-led organization operating mainly in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, most recently as Interim Executive Director. Uwezo was awarded two DAFI (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative) scholarships and the Mwalimu Nyerere Scholarship Scheme for people with physical disabilities, sponsored by the African Union. He holds an MA in governance and leadership from the Open University of Tanzania as well as an MA in public administration from Mzumbe University, Tanzania
