Hamilton thrills en-route to podium from 20th, but Valtteri Bottas pips him to second; Rosberg extends title lead to 14 points; Felipe Massa flipped at the first corner after Kevin Magnussen clash
These were some of spectator's comment after the race :

Compare Hamiltons overtakes to Bottas at Silverstone and Hamilton looks like an impatient amateur. Why did Hamilton risk losing everything to get past Sutil, Button, Raikkonen when he was clearly in superior machinery and could pass easily on long straights. Bottas shows much calmer head and doesnt risk losing it to a backmarker!
stefan says 21/07/14 1:19am
I think its funny that Lewis is setting his teammate up for a fall. Not in F1, but by the German Tax Authority. Rosberg says he's 100% German, wins his "home Grand Prix". If I were the tax authority, I would listen to Nico, say to the tune of 40% tax. Take that drop shot, Navratolova.
pedro says 21/07/14 12:45am
I don't have nothing with Nico Rosberg, but look like Mercedes they giving more attention to Nico's car than Lewis Hamilton's. Is not happy for me to Nico leading the champion because of his team mate has car reliability issue always than him. you guys who's supporting Nico Rosberg you have to thing winning in fair mode not being favored by team and FIA as well as and so on.
larry says 20/07/14 11:53pm
Congrats to Nico, Bottas and Lewis great racing. Just reading the comments it's amazing to see and hear people's opinions of the race results based on whether their favorite did well or not. So with this said I'm a Lewis fan and I hope I'm keeping it real in saying if Mercedes were to let the racers race to the best of their abilities and not look for the National pride that sent us to two world wars I believe Lewis would be champ....but maybe I'm delusional as well?
jonny says 20/07/14 11:08pm
Hamilton has a car that is more than twice as good as the next best...Williams. Getting from 20th to top two should have been a formality with minimum problems. Hamilton collided with other cars three times. That is why he will get some criticism. that and the constant moaning he does no matter what.
scott says 20/07/14 11:06pm
After reading most of the comments, it becomes clear that about half of you lot have been following F1 for no more than a year at best. Go back to the 1994 season and read up on all of the constructors', team, drivers cheating and conspiracy scandals. That was easily one of the hardest fought and tragic seasons in modern F1 history (Imola especially).
wheelnut says 21/07/14 9:44am
...people have also forgotten what real racing looks like! How can they complain about Lewis rubbing on other cars when Schuey used to drive people into walls and Senna & Prost kept driving each other off the track! Grow a pair!
jondu says 20/07/14 10:47pm
Great race, entertaining from third backwards. Pity about the commentators giving the Lewis excuses after he drove in to Button!
wheelnut says 21/07/14 9:48am
Weird... it's seems Button has given Lewis an excuse as well, read his latest comments.
d says 20/07/14 10:44pm
Two points i'd like to say about "Almighty Hamilton". 1: The Button incident did not cost him the race as it did not slow him at all so that cannot be used as an excuse by you fans, he simply couldn't extend the life of his tyres in the second stint. 2. If safety car came out it would have hurt Lewis not help him as he would have had to pit and lose more positions. And seriously, I hate the way everyone here puts Rosberg down as someone who is not as talented as Lewis. They are near equal to each other. Although both drivers do have their strengths and Nico being able to manage tyres was clearly a strength he has over Lewis after today.
wheelnut says 21/07/14 9:48am
Nico managing his tyres? He didn't have to fight for 17 positions and duel the entire grid, Nico was permanently in clean air while Lewis was waging a war for damage limitation. What an hilarious AND absurd statement!
salman says 20/07/14 10:33pm
Good race. Would have been a great race if Hamilton had not had the bad luck in qualifying. Merc is a monster, its advantage over others is unreal. I may get some stick, but I don't think that Red Bull had this level of superiority over others when SV won his 4 WDCs. Bottas has to be the driver-of-the-day (Ricciardo was close 2nd). Great damage limitation by Hamilton. The WDC looking like going to the wire right to the last race, where the double points may just make a lot of British fans happy.
monty says 20/07/14 9:17pm
When something doesn't benefit Hamilton, it's a massive conspiracy against him.
ricardo says 20/07/14 8:50pm
Those of you who dislike or hate Hamilton, just say so and stop speaking in code or beating around the bush and say how you truly feel about a guy that's been in F1 the same amount of time as his teammate and won 26 races to his colleagues 7, so it doesn't take a genius to workout who's the better all round driver. You guys wouldn't acknowledge that he's had the wrong end of the stick regarding reliability issues, as some of you are acting like the issues he's encountered are off his own making.
cameron says 21/07/14 3:07am
I don't like Hamilton but I have to admit he is a great driver, but in all fairness to Nico he has had to do things the hard way, he didn't start of at one of the best teams, he had to work his way into Mercedes unlike Hamilton who got straight into a top car in the McLaren (at the time)
farhan says 21/07/14 1:34am
Don't even start to compare Rosberg's Williams and Mercedes cars to Hamilton's McLarens as they were rubbish.
apollo says 20/07/14 7:55pm
Great win Niko, came out and won qualifying with no drama, came out and won the GP without any drama and or any of the usual Hamilton whine!
jane says 20/07/14 11:22pm
Yes, Nico won. However, all those who hate Hamilton - look at the stats. If Nico had two technical failures like Hamilton had - he would not be in the lead. If he wins championship based on current technical failure stats, Nico knows deep down everyone will say "If Hamilton had only one technical fail like Nico, Hamilton would have won - so Nico is still not the better driver and will have to prove himself next year". To make a comparison between the two, they would have to have the same number of technical failures - Hamilton would win.
apollo says 20/07/14 7:52pm
Well deserved win Nico, won pole position, kept ahead of the pack and kept out of all the Hamilton moaning as normal. Go on and win the Championship mate, good on you!
steve says 21/07/14 1:23am
If Nico wins the Championship, it will only be down to his German team creating it
cam says 20/07/14 10:53pm
Moaning about no brakes, good one.
ken says 20/07/14 7:41pm
I can't believe some of the comments that have been posted here through out the season if everything is going well for Hamilton it is fine but as soon as it done not there has got to be a conspiracy against him either by the team or the fia so biased. 3 times in the race he hit other drivers and could have put them out but that is ok but if it happened to him they would be calling for penalties. Come on Rosberg and win the championship
james says 20/07/14 9:08pm
1. Hamilton car failing 2. Lack of safety car when sutil car stalled on the straight. The car was in the middle of the track, FIA risked marshals lives.
sean says 20/07/14 8:53pm
Thank you for noticing some of the people on here! Any excuse when he is not winning including a conspiracy and the whole world being against Hamilton! Its pathetic! Well said Ken
stephen says 20/07/14 7:31pm
Another race and another weekend to forget for Kimi.
michael says 20/07/14 6:57pm
In Bahrain people were berating Nico for not getting past another Mercedes, I wonder what they make of Lewis not getting past a car a second and a half a lap slower.
chris says 20/07/14 11:09pm
It's not hard though is it to come through a pack of cars that just let you breeze by anyway most of the time as they know the car is far better, isn't a shock at all that he made it through.
dan says 20/07/14 10:34pm
This is a pathetic comment.
andy says 20/07/14 6:43pm
Great race today. Great effort from Hamilton getting to 3rd, he was bound to have a few hairy moments coming through that amount of traffic. Although he has the fastest car still great to get to 3rd, and with a bit of luck with the safety car could have been 2nd and even had a pop at Rosberg. Fair play to Rosberg, did the job that was required, although balancing it all out Hamilton is slightly quicker, Rosberg has the consistency/ I have a feeling we may see him win the WDC. I hope not though, go Hamilton!
james says 20/07/14 9:12pm
It's not even consistency of the driver you should be praising. It's his dam car. When Lewis pushes Nico, he always caves into the pressure, locking up cutting corners.
matt says 20/07/14 6:42pm
That was Vettel's best drive for a while and his team mates performance was still more impressive!! Put Bottas in the Ferrari next year! That would be a cracking battle with FA.
alex says 20/07/14 6:27pm
Came on here fully expecting to see plaudits of Hamilton's nice drive up to 3rd place from 20th. Instead all I see are a bunch of his fans building up yet more controversy where there is none. Can you Hamilton fans never enjoy a race? As for Rosberg's ability to come from 20th to 3rd in the same car, I'm sure he'll have the "opportunity" at some point, not that he'll get any credit around here if he matches Lewis's effort.
craig says 21/07/14 7:47am
I doubt many people on here can just enjoy a race. Half want to see Hamilton crash and fail, the rest badly want a conspiracy.
lonewolf says 20/07/14 5:38pm
Could Rosberg have come from last but one on the grid to a podium? As if!! Great drive from one of the true greats of f1. Bring on Hungary.
sean says 20/07/14 8:57pm
GH you have hit the nail on the head to the point!
gh says 20/07/14 6:43pm
How could you possibly say that? What a ridiculous comment from another member of the Hamilton fan club. Hamilton fans are so lucky - if he wins the WDC then he is the greatest driver ever to step in to an F1 car and has done it through all the adversity and if he doesn't win it then it is because Nico, the team and F1 in general conspired against him! Win/Win for his adoring fans.
