na historia mpya ya Tanganyika huru inaanza.

Mimi nimekua nikisikia miziki ya Cuba ikipigwa nyumbani kwetu na mie

Mh alionyesha kushtuka kumuona yule Mzee pale. Na akamuuliza: KUMBE UPO HAPA SIKU HIZI? Na maswali mengine.
Binafsi kiroho kilikuwa kikinidunda kwa kucheleweshwa kushikana mkono na Mh, huku Mzee akitumia muda mwingi kusalimiana nae. Yule Mzee alikuwa ni mwenye furaha siku nzima. Kuna raha yake ukikumbukwa na mtu mliefahamiana kitambo!

Kikwete ana sifa ya kuwa na uwezo mkubwa sana wa kukumbuka sura za watu. Waliofanya naye kazi wanasema hata kama walikuwa wamefanya naye kazi kwa muda mfupi tu, walishangaa kwamba alikuwa anawakumbuka bado, halafu akikutana na mtu anayemkumbuka ni lazima amfahamishe kwamba anamkumbuka.

Nimekuwa nafuatilia mijadala yako kwa muda mrefu hakika unatumia hekima kubwa sana katika kujibu maswali, ambapo uvumilivu huo Wanajanvi wengi hawana zaidi ya hoja zikiwaelemea/kukiwa na tofauti ya mtazamo kutoa matusi na kejeli.
Hakika naendelea kujifunza mengi toka kwako. Aidha inaonekana una vitu vingi unavifahamu katika historia ya nchi yetu mana kuna Wanajanvi huwa wanaingia miguu yote kukuparamia huwa unawapa majibu ambayo yanawapa hamaki kubwa sana na kuishia kejeli tu.
Mwisho naomba kujuwa yafuatayo;
1. Je, hao wanahistoria wa Kivukoni washawahi kukujibu uliyoandika katika Kitabu chako?
2. Ushawahi kufanya nao mjadala sehemu yoyote ile kuhusiana na historia ya waliohusika na harakati za uhuru?
3. Hawa Manguli wa historia wa Tanzania washawahi "kukuchallange" katika yale uliyowahi kuyaandika ktk vitabu ama papers zako? Unarejea yoyote katika hilo?
4. Kama kweli hii historia unayoifundisha hapa Jf ni "Soga za Kariakoo" kama waitavyo wenyewe ni kwa nini hawajitokezi hao Wabobezi wa historia ili kujibu hoja zako ama kufanya "damage control" ya uharibifu wa historia unaoufanya? Wanahofia nini?

Ahsante kwa kunizindua.
Niliisoma post yako na nilikuwa na nia ya kujibu lakini nikapitiwa.

Niliwahi kujibiwa kwa vitisho na mmoja kati ya waandishi wa Kivukoni.

Mwaka wa 1988 gazeti la Africa Events (London) lilichapa makala yangu
ambayo ilikuwa inasahihisha historia ya Kivukoni.

Soma hayo hapo chini uone nini kilitokea:

''Ilikuwa nia ya Ally Sykes katika miaka ya 1980 kuwapa waandishi
nyaraka zao ili waandike historia ya baba yake, Kleist na ya kaka
yake Abdul ambayo ingelieleza historia ya TANU.

Mimi nilimwambia Ally Sykes kuwa mimi naweza kuandika historia
hiyo.

Nilimpa ''draft'' ya sura moja tena wakati huo sijui hata kutumia
computer kwa hiyo ilikuwa nimeandika kwa mkono.

Ilikuwa mwaka wa 1988.

Ally Sykes alichukua ile sura akendanayo London akampa Mohamed
Mlamali
Adam aliyekuwa mhariri wa Africa Events, gazeti lililokuwa
likichapwa London.

Sura hii ilichapwa kama makala katika gazeti la Africa Events toleo
la March/April 1988 kwa kichwa cha habari, ''In Praise of Ancestors.''

Toleo hili ndilo lililokusanywa na kupigwa moto hapa nyumbani.
Hawakutaka watu wasome kile nilichoandika.

Kitendo hiki na jinsi makala ile ilivyopokelewa ilimfanya Ally Sykes
aamini kuwa hakuwa na haja ya kuwaleta waandishi kufanya utafiti
na kuandika historia ile kwani mimi ile nilikuwa naimudu ile kazi.''

Sasa tuangalie nini kilitokea baada ya makala ile makala yangu:

''Baada ya ile makala ya ''In Praise of Ancestors,'' majibu yalikuja kutoka
CCM Dodoma.

Majibu yaliyokuja ni kejeli, vitisho na dharau.

Wanajamvi,
Hebu someni kile nilichoandika katika kitabu changu na nini wale
wasiotaka historia ile walisema:

''In 1985, President Nyerere, while conferring an honorary degree
on Basil Davidson, challenged the University of Dar es Salaam to
write a correct history of Tanzania. In 1988, while commemorating
thirty years of the Tabora Declaration, Nyerere in reference to
early TANU members and as a tribute to them Nyerere asked the
Party to take stock of those who joined TANU between 1954 and
1958.

Nyerere said: “That was the most trying period in the history of our
Party and few people were courageous enough to join and work for
the Party.” [1]

In supporting Nyerere for his recent call and taking up the challenge
to record a correct history which he had for the first advanced in
1974 and again in 1985 the present author published an article in
African Events [2] in which Abdulwahid and other forgotten TANU
pioneers received prominence.

In that article the author did what no other scholar had done before.
He mentioned the fact that Muslims were in the forefront during the
struggle for independence. It was at that time taboo to associate
Islam or Muslims with the independence movement. The author
received sharp rebuke from a Party historian, Dr Mayanja Kiwanuka,
a leading member of the panel which wrote the Party book Historia ya
Chama Cha TANU 1954-1977
, the official history of the Party. The
Party historian had this to say:

''(the)... article...argues that although Muslims in Tanzania played
a crucial role in the struggle for independence, there is a deliberate
effort to downplay their contribution. Consequently, the entire article
contains half-baked fairy tales to sustain his argument, more so by
mentioning names of several TANU stalwarts who happened to be
Muslims...The greatness of TANU, indeed that of its founder-leader,
Mwalimu Nyerere, is that, in so short a time since its inception,
it managed to weave together into a formidable, relatively homogeneous
nationalist movement, a people so ethnically, culturally and religiously
diverse... Said’s major goal is to sow seeds of discord, and at any
price, truth to him is a matter to be ignored.'' [3]


This was the reaction from Kiwanuka, who supervised the research
on the official history of the party, reducing a research article to
whathe called a ‘fairy tale’. The author was also accused of lying.
Kiwanuka, not deviating from the Party stand, emphasised ‘the
greatness of the party and its founder-leader’. Kiwanuka was at
that time the Assistant Secretary in the Department of Political
Propaganda and Mass Mobilisation of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi.
Kiwanuka had as an undergraduate student at University of
Dar es Salaam, written on post-independence Muslim-Christian
relations. [4]''

Naomba tusimame hapa ukishasoma nifahamishe nije na majibu
