Sasa bandari ya uwezo wa 3mln tonnes kwamwaka ndo uje kuanzisha mjadala? jameni!
Rwanda na Burundi hupokea kama 2 Million tonnes combined, South Sudan hupokea kama 3 million tonnes import/export, Uganda nao ni 8Million tonnes kupitia Bandari ya Mombasa.... Kaskazini mwa Tanzania nao hupokea kama 200,000 tonnes kupitia bandari ya Mombasa....
Hapo kuna kama 16 Million tonnes za kupiganiwa. Dar port ilipiga 17million tonnes mwaka uliopita, wakati bandari ya Mombasa ilipiga 32 Million tonnes..... Sasa unakuja kujipia kifua eti mtaua bandari ya Mombasa kisa na maana mmefanya dredging na kupanua bandari iwe na uwezo wa only 3 mln tonnes!!!!
NB: Bandari mpya, au iliofanyiwa expansion hua wanapunguza port charges ili kuvutia wateja wapya... Lakini baadae wateja wakishazoea bandari, port charges zinarudi to competitive prices,,, hilo si jambo jipya...

Wakati up north, Mombasa port handled 34 million tones of actual cargo (Hii ni actual cargo, not potential capacity)... Since there was no major congestion, it means Mombasa already has a capacity larger than 34 mln tons
Na usisahau berth 22 pale mombasa itazunduliwa mwezi ujao, iko na capacity ya 500,000 Teus ama about 7 mln tonnes..... So that means after April this year 2022 Mombasa port itakua na capacity of atleast 34 + 7 = 41 mln tones.
Berth 22 imemaliza kujengwa, you can see berth 23 nayo iko almost 50% complete hio nayo itakua na capacity ya 550,000 TEUs So b4 end of 2022 berth 23 ikikamilika Mombasa port itakua na capacity ya 34+7+7.5 = 48 Million tones!!!!!!
