Largest African Economies 2017, IMF

From the statistics u find that Tanzania is trailing in almost all the categories except projections of 2018 and 2019 which are not facts.
TZ is trailing kwenye nominal GDP ila kwenye PPP projections ni by end this year mtakuwa nyuma yetu.
Nataka maelezo ya kitalaam which of those two indicators show a country's economic development better.
Coz kama ni PPP it shows Tanzania's economy will be bigger than Kenya's by next year.

I bet it's PPP

2018 figures. I've highlighted them to make it easy for you.

Boss, we are talking about facts not projections. A fact is what is not what may be. Remember this is not the first time Tz GDP PPP has been projected to surpass Kenya's. Again, you said Tz GDP PPP IS bigger than Kenya's. IS is present tense. You're clearly trying too hard.

Ulisema 'tumewapita' and now you're talking of 2018. Be consistent boss.

Kumbe PPP is more important hahahhaaaa
PPP tumewapita according to that IMF report

I bet it's PPP
Although GDP is the most used yardsticks, its loopholes eg inability to measure the wellbeing of people has brought about the use of other yardsticks eg use of Human development index(HID)the,PPP and index of sustainable economic welfare(ISEW).all these yardsticks have their drawbacks.A country can use any

Gdp nominal is the actual real value of a country's production. Kenya's economic activities resulted to a production of goods worth $69bn while that for Tz is $46bn as at 2016.

But we all know what a dollar can buy in one country isn't the same as what it can buy in another hence comes Gdp ppp. So adjusting to the local purchasing power, since bread, milk etc are cheaper in say Tz than they are in the US, that $46bn is capable of buying the same amount of goods in Tz as one with $156bn in the US would. Hence Gdp ppp.

So back to your question, which is better? Well, nominal gdp is the real output while gdp ppp is the hypothetical value which is why nominal gdp is more commonly used. A good example is China has a larger gdp ppp than the US. But since the nominal gdp of the US is larger, which shows the actual value of economic activities in the US is more than in China, the US has more muscle in global economic deals.

On a side note, both Gdps show a nation's economic power but it is HDI that shows how developed it actually is. Watu wengi hawajui hili but Mauritius is far more developed than south Africa, but South Africa ina more multinationals and more economic reach and muscle due to it's vastly larger gdp when compared to Mauritius

Now you are getting allong with my assertion.
The economy figures doesn't give the fact from the ground.
New Zealand and you have good figures but still you are not meeting the basic needs of your employees e.g. doctors.

Again comparing salaries of employees from different countries can't give real pictures of satisfaction on salaries btn countries. Kenya doctors might put in their pockets much comparing with their counterparts from other eacountries but their cost of living in Kenya is high in such a way it erod that norminal income.

But brother the strike of three months plus is a record breaker. Never heard any whereon earth.
Ya Israel was for almost a whole year

Thanks man for the good explanation

Many have been uttered. But for many of us to be frank, are not impressed by a way your economy performing both in growth and development. You have a very lucrative and good stats. But stil you a lot of basic social challenges on ground. The population is still in danger. You can recall the recently doctors strike. One could wonder how a country with good economy stats to have a strike of more than three months? How a country with a good economy numbers to have a good big mass of youths unemployed also the same flee the country. Mimi siku zote nashangaa huo uchumi ni wa kwenye makaratasi tu?? Mbona haujumuishi maisha jumla ya wananchi??

Mimi binafsi sioni Kenya ni mfano mzuri. Ndiyo maana nasema sisi tujiringanishe Namibia na Botswana, those guys are clever than cleverer.
If am not mistaken kaka these guys give this stastics based on formal sectors na sio informal sector which shelves many millions of people na ndio maana haya maswahili hayakaa yaishe inakuaje uchumi unakua kwa 5.8 or 7.2 na maisha ya walala hoi yapo palepale wengi wakiishi china ya dolar kwa siku na kupata angalau mlo mmoja tu kwa siku....hizi takwimu ni za kutafuta kura kweny uchaguzi na mikopo kwa serikali...

When was it?
All in all Kenyans suffered a lot from the strike.
You have to understand u cannot just wake up one day and hold the government hostage because you want to be increased salaries and if you do other civil servants too will want their salaries increased, when the doctors went on strike and the government added them more money, also lecturers went on strike and teachers too were almost striking, further more its an election year
