[h=1]Rodgers' update on Sterling contract :[/h]
Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling will agree a new contract with the club in the near future.

The 20-year-old scored a sublime equaliser against Chelsea on Tuesday night to secure a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final. Next up for the Reds in a busy week is a fourth round meeting with Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup at Anfield on Saturday evening. As he previewed that tie today, Rodgers was asked for an update on any negotiations with Sterling regarding a fresh deal. "Obviously the club are speaking with his representatives on it," reported the boss. "I would think that will be concluded very imminently. "You can see he's very happy, it's nothing to do with Raheem - he wants to be here. Hopefully we'll get a solution on that very soon."

[h=1]Rodgers: Coutinho is a class act[/h]
A "class act" were the words used by Brendan Rodgers to describe Philippe Coutinho, who has enjoyed a series of luminary displays for Liverpool.

The Brazilian's artistry and manipulation of space has engaged in the eye in recent games, with the Reds profiting from his front-foot finesse. Coutinho has shrugged off a stifled start to the season, which the manager admitted was due to a lack of movement and invention ahead of him. Just as speed and attacking intensity has returned for Rodgers' men, so too has the playmaker's creative intelligence. Against a masterful Chelsea midfield, the 22-year-old weaved his magic and often turned his markers into spectators as he supplied his teammates in advanced areas. "He was outstanding the other night," the Liverpool boss said of that semi-final performance in the Capital One Cup first leg.
"It was a difficult start to the season for him because if you think of Phil Coutinho, he has that bit of magic to make the key pass in the final third and combines with people ahead of him so well.
"Last year he had a [Luis] Suarez and a [Daniel] Sturridge to make those passes to and he could work well with their style.
"At the beginning of this season, he didn't have that. Probably until six or seven weeks ago, his ability to make that threaded pass through wasn't on because he didn't have that [energy and movement upfront]."
The change in system for Liverpool has returned Coutinho to his role of making things happen, and Rodgers predicts more marvel from the slick passer as he matures.
"We had to look at how to bring out the best in all our players, and once he's had mobility, energy and speed around him, it's lifted his game," he added.
"He's a class act, and he's still got so much growth and development to undertake here."

hapana,BR anamkubali sana huyu dogo...afu nikwamaie kitu, dogo Teixeira anafit kbs kwenye system ya BR,afu anajua goli lilipo,

Kama BR anampenda then he should give him a chance.

Ni kweli anafit ila ana bahati mbaya kutona na competition aliyonayo from senior players. I don't see BR play him and leave out Coutinho or Lallana and I have hear that, Luis Alberto is doing pretty well

Hahahahahahahahahaha

glen johnson is a kopite!!!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

Tunaye saaaaaana pale lfc..

Naona tunataka kubakiza exprienced players kwenye team!!!

Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Ukiangalia games ambazo tumebakiza kwenye mwezi huu utagundua kwamba wachezaji wetu watakuwa na muda mchache wa kupumzika...February nayo imekaa kushoto...

I think BR should handle well wachezaji ambao wamekuwa mhimili and probably he should give them a rest from the forth coming game against Bolton.

Wakuu what do you think our team should be if we have to rest Sakho, Skrel, Markovic, Lucas, Coutinho, Henderson and Sterling?

Maneno ya BR yanaweza yakaleta picha fulani isiyoeleweka...

BR anataka SG aondoke maana nahisi anaogopa kwa heshima ya SG angeweza kupewa team hasa kipindi kile tunaboronga!

Does not make any sense kumuondoa SG kutaka GJ abaki

I concur but kuna haja kwanza ya ku-priotize competitions:

1. EPL top 4 - our biggest priority, so I will always deploy the strongest lineup on the pitch

2. Silverware option 1: the most realistic chance is the League Cup, so use the strongest lineup

3. Silverware option 2: should we fail to go past Chelsea in the League Cup, then kuna haja ya ku-shift focus kwenye mojawapo kati ya FA Cup / UEFA League. Mimi naona UEFA is a more realistic possibility, so nitatumia strongest lineup kwenye competition hii and a weakened one kwenye FA kuanzia mechi ya leo vs Bolton.

Now back to your original question....je tuwatumie nani kwenye weakened lineup? My only opinion ni kuwa let's shuffle the pack kuanzia midfield lakini our strongest backline (back 3) should always play no matter what. Why? Because we need these guys to understand one another and gel as a unit over time.

How to shuffle the midfield onwards remains anyone's opinion...
