  • Step 1: Prayer

    • The prayer to be made by the one on whom the ritual is being performed after offering obeisance toLord Maruti: ‘May the evil eye cast upon me (taking his name) be cast off and may (taking the name of the person performing the ritual) not be affected by it’.

    • The one performing the ritual should pray unto Lord Maruti to prevent being affected by the distressing energy.
  • Hatua ya 1: Sala
    Sala ya kufanywa na yule ambaye ibada hiyo inafanyika baada ya kumsifu Tolord Maruti: 'Hebu jicho baya likanipe (jina lake) kutupwa na inaweza (kuchukua jina la mtu anayefanya ibada) si kuathiriwa na hilo '.
    Yule anayefanya ibada anapaswa kuomba kwa Bwana Maruti kuzuia kuathiriwa na nishati ya shida.
  • Step 2: Taking your position
Make the person who is affected by negative energy and on whom the ritual is to be performed sit on a low wooden platform or seat facing the east with flexed knees bent towards the chest. The palms should face upwards and should be placed on the knees.

  • Step 3: Performing the ritual
The person performing the ritual should stand in front of the person. Take that quantity of mustard seeds and granulated salt as can be held between the fingertips in each of the fists.

Hatua ya 3: Kufanya ibada
Mtu anayefanya ibada anapaswa kusimama mbele ya mtu. Chukua kiasi hicho cha mbegu za haradali na chumvi ya granulated kama inaweza kufanyika kati ya vidole katika kila ngumi.
Kuvuka ngumi zako mbele ya mwili wako. Fists inapaswa kuvuka kama ishara ya kuzidisha. Fists inapaswa kuhamishwa kutoka kichwa hadi mguu wa mtu aliyeathiriwa, kwa njia tofauti na kisha kuguswa chini.
Mikono imevuka tu kuanza. Tunapoanza kufanya ibada tunapaswa kuacha mikono na wakati huo huo kusonga ngumi ya kulia kwa mwelekeo wa saa kutoka kwa kichwa hadi mguu na ngumi ya kushoto katika mwelekeo usio na kichwa kutoka kichwa hadi mguu. Baada ya kugusa ardhi, tunaanza tena kama hapo juu yaani. Mikono na wakati huo huo huhamisha ngumi ya kulia kwa mwelekeo wa saa kutoka mguu hadi kichwa na kushoto ngumi katika mwelekeo usiofaa kutoka mguu hadi kichwa.
Zifuatazo zinapaswa kuhukumiwa wakati wa kufanya ibada 'Je! Jicho la uovu liwapeleke kwa wageni, roho, miti, wapita-na, mahali, kutupwa na inaweza kuwa salama kutokana na ugonjwa na kuumia'.
Sababu ya kusonga ngumi na kuwagusa chini:
Kwa kusonga ngumi kama ilivyoelezwa vibrations ya shida ni imbibed kwanza katika dutu kutumika katika ibada na kwa kugusa ardhi wao kisha vunjwa ndani ya ardhi.

Cross your fists in front of your body. The fists should be crossed like the multiplication sign. The fists should be moved from head to foot of the affected individual, in opposite directions and then touched to the ground.

The hands are crossed only to begin with. As we begin to perform the ritual we have to seperate the hands and simultaneously move the right fist in clockwise direction from head to foot and left fist in anticlockwise direction from head to foot.

After touching the ground, we again begin as above i.e. seperate the hands and simultaneously move the right fist in clockwise direction from foot to head and left fist in anticlockwise direction from foot to head.

The following should be uttered when performing the ritual ‘May the evil eye cast upon him by visitors, spirits, trees, passers-by, place, be cast off and may he be protected from disease and injury’.

Reason behind moving the fists and touching them to the ground:

  • By moving the fists as described the distressing vibrations are first imbibed in the substance used in the ritual and by touching the ground they are then pulled into the ground.
  • The number of movements of the fists is to be decided based on the extent of distress. Mostly the sorcerers do black magic in odd numbers hence the fists are moved in multiples of odd numbers.

Step 4:

At the end of it, all the contents should be emptied onto a hot iron pan or burning coals
