Mkuu, kwa kifupi nchi yetu imepoteza miaka 10 kusikiliza masimulizi ya mkwere badala ya kuendelea na safari ya maendeleo.

Kuna watu walikuwa wanajiapiza kwamba Mkwere ni Kiongoz wa kweli Leo wananuna wakati mwingine huwa najidharau sana kuwa Mtanzania

Dunia itashangaa kwa uamuzi wa hovyo kama huu labda kama Magufuli nae kaanza kuzungusha mikono.

Siyo kweli! Hakuna meli inayoshushia mizigo ya TanZania nchini Afrika Kusini wala Mombasa, kama kuna inayofanya hivyo basi ni kwa sababu mteja mwenyewe mwenye mzigo ametaka hivyo kwa sababu zake binafsi lkn siyo uamuzi wa mwenye Meli kwa sababu eti Dar hakuna nafasi HAPANA!

Sababu za nchi kutumia Bandari ya Durban badala ya Dar siyo kwa sababu ya udogo wa bandari ya Dar HAPANA bali kuna mambo mengi sana na kubwa klk yote ni unafuu wa bei hasa meli zinazokwenda AK kwa maana AK ina uchumi mkubwa zaidi hivyo kuna Meli nyingi zinazokwenda huko na hilo kupelekea kushuka kwa gharama ya uzalishaji kujenga Bandari kubwa B'moyo hakutabadilsha hilo, ni kama vile dala dala ikifika usiku na mabasi kwa kuwa ni machache basi hupandisha bei, kwa nini hufanya hivyo? Ni kwa sababu dala dala ni chache wakati huwo!

Ni lazima utambue kwamba Bandari kubwa haimaanishi wingi wa Meli, Mombasa ina Meli nyingi klk Dar kwa sababu Kenya ina Uchumi mkubwa klk TanZania kwa maana hiyo basi Import na export za Kenya ni nyingi klk TanZania hiyo NDIYO sababu kubwa na maadamu Kenya ina Uchumi mkubwa klk TanZania kujenga Bandari kubwa klk Mombasa bado hakutafanya Meli nyingi zaidi kuja TZ klk Kenya!

Ni kweli kwamba kuna mizigo mingi na inaendelea kukuwa na ndiyo maana kujenga Bandari kubwa moja Bagamoyo hakutatua tatizo bali kutaliongeza na hapa cha kufanya kwanza ni kuboresha zilizopo ili zifanye kazi to their full capacity kwa mfano Malawi, Zambia ziweze kuhudumiwa na Bandari Mtwara na hili linawezekana kwa kujenga Reli ambapo mpango tayari upo tangu enzi za Ukoloni ktk MT mpaka ziwa Nyasa, kujenga upya Reli ya Kati pmj na Bandari Z.Tanganyika ambapo itahudumia Kongo, Burundi na Zambia na vile vile kuboresha Bandari ya Tanga na kuiunganisha na Reli ktk TA-Moshi-Arusha-Musoma hivyo eneo lote la Kasakzini mwa TanZania kuweza kuhudumiwa na Bandari ya Tanga hayo yakifanyika utaona wala hakutakuwa na tatizo!
 
The construction of the $10 billion Bagamoyo port, which would be the largest port in East Africa, has been suspended.

Tanzania wants to focus, instead, on improving the capacity, performance and efficiency of the Dar es Salaam and Mtwara ports.

The Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Prof Makame Mbarawa, said the government will upgrade berths 1 to 7 and construct two additional ones, 13 and 14, at the Dar port as well as develop the Mtwara one.

“I do not want to reveal too much details or plans by the government on the fate of this project [Bagamoyo]. What I can say is only that we are currently concentrating on the Dar es Salaam and Mtwara ports,” he told The Citizen.

However funding constraints for the two ports are standing in the way of the revamp efforts.

“We are looking for funds for the port of Dar es Salaam and then for the Mtwara Port,” he said.

The World Bank has agreed to fund the facelift of berths 1 to 7 and talks are ongoing to also finance the construction of berths 13 and 14, Prof Mbarawa said without revealing the cost of the projects.

The government hopes to start the refurbishment this year and complete by 2018.

“It all depends with the financial resources. If we get the funding soon the projects will run,” he said.

The initial works for the Bagamoyo port had already started after former President Jakaya Kikwete broke ground last October with some residents relocated to other areas to pave way for the construction.

Prof Mbarawa said the decision to suspend the building of the port was because the multibillion-shilling project was too big; it needed more attention, a lot of planning and a major source of funding.


Bagamoyo port was also put in the queue by the need to take advantage of huge inflows of foreign direct investments in the natural gas-rich regions of Lindi and Mtwara, the government said.

Politically sensitive

The port has so far become a politically sensitive issue. Opposition politicians and the private sector have poured scorn on the project arguing it was a waste of resources and urged for improving the existing Tanga, Dar and Mtwara ports instead and the connecting infrastructure.

Oh the author of this article was so kind............. She should have put it candidly, Bagamoyo port construction and its SGR railway is a big O white elephant...... I remember wordering how the chinies were stupid enough to encourage Tz to go ahead with the Bagamoyo contruction.... I mean where was the economic sence? Bagamoyo was big, but what was it serving? the same market that the dar port was serving namely (UG,Rwanda,Burundi,DRC)... And why would the chinies waste money biulding another rail acros the border in Kenya which goes to the same places..... Wouldn't it just be viable if they just upgraded Dar port to serve the routes more efficiently......

The difference between Bagamoyo and Lapsset is that the Lamu port and its railway will be serving completely new unexplored markets, and the rail and the port have a potential to be linked up to the west coast of Africa to the Atlantic ocean.

I see GOT has got off its high hoarse, you did a rookie mistake, and you cant even say it with a straight face, "we are now concentrating on Dar and I dont want to reveal much details.... ", you can't say no one is even asking question about the port

Hata kama mradi wa Bagamoyo port ulikuwa ni "political game" kuweka bayana kuwa Serikali "kutokuwa na mpango" wa mradi huu ni kosa sana katika ujenzi wa uchumi na ushirikiano wa kimataifa. Vilevile, ni ndoto za alinacha kuzungumzia Tanzania ya viwanda kwa kupitia Bandari hiyo ya Posta. Hiyo siyo bandari ya mapinduzi ya viwanda ya karne ya 21. Hiyo ni bandari ya Boti za Azam kwenda pemba, Mtwara, comoro nk.

Serikali haikutakiwa kutoa maelezo mepesi kama haya, ilitakiwa itoe maelezo yenye kutoa namna bora ya kuufanya mradi huu uwe wenye ufanisi iwapo imebaini makosa kadhaa miongoni mwa mchakato wake.
We have to think bigger and bigger if we aim to integrate our economy into the global economy. Not otherwise. The port is strategically viable and would contribute a lot in our economy.

Hakuna aliyekataa Bandari mpya isijengwe lkn pale tu ambapo hizi zilizopo zimeshakuwa exhausted na siyo kinyume chake, lkn kwa sasa hivi hizi tu tulizonazo zinafanya kazi chini ya kiwango sasa kwanini ukimbilie kitu kipya wakati ulichonacho kinakushinda? Hiyo mpya utafanya miujiza gani?

Dunia haiendi hivyo, siku zote watu huakikisha kwanza kile kilichopo kinatumiwa ipasavyo kwa zaidi ya 85% halafu kama bado kuna mahitaji ndiyo hujengwa kipya, na hii ni Dunia nzima pamoja na Uchina kwenyewe!

Nilisikia mkataba huu unawapa wawekezaji wa China kuendesha hiyo bandari kwa muda wa miaka 50 mpaka watakaporudisha pesa zao na hapo Tanzania ndo itapewa bandari yake.
...sasa mjadala ungekuwa hapo kamanda! ni upuuzi nadhani! kenya wamewezaje gharamia mradi "LLSSET'...tunaona aibu kufanya kama wao, lkn tukiboresha zaidi?!
 
...sawa kamanda lakini, mtwara ina mapungufu ktk aina ya bandari inayotakiwa kujengwa! kwamba bila kumfurahisha mtu, ukilinganisha mazingira ya mtwara, na ya bagamoyo, kitaalam, bagamoyo inakuwa ndio pwani inayofaa zaidi kwa mradi huu!...lkn kubwa lingine ni kuwa unafanyika maberesho na marekebisho ya bandari kama hiyo ya mtwara kisha ndo mradi wa bagamoyo uendelee!
 
....comrade...SCDP ambayo bandari ya mtwara ni sehemu yake, ni moja ya miradi mizuri na muhimu mno kwa tanzania!...mno! mno! mno!...lkn mradi wa bandari ya bagamoyo ni mradi mwingine na tofauti kabisa na SCDP...! TUNAIHITAJI YOTE!...lkn jambo la kufurahisha zaidi ni kwamba maboresho ya bandari ya mtwara, ikiwa ni sehemu ya SCDP, yanatamgulia mradi wa bandari ya bagamoyo!
