Umeshasema ni mkopo, which means it will be paid back!
Demonstrations is their right, destruction and vandalism is not! If that is the case, then the whole nation should rise and destruct everything, refuse to engage in any dialogue and civil rampage and vandalism should take place until water and electricity supply are fixed!
Unaongelea matukio mawili tofauti hapa.
If I recall, the Ugandan fella was kicked out due to eligibility. In addition, there is a division between students due to their political party affiliation.
Yes the arguments presented to me by YNIM and the overal outcry is based in immaturity and most likely delibarate movement to ignore proper protocals. Emotions are running on nitro and thus everyone has blinders and believe that "wanaonewa" sana. They were asked politelly to go back to their classes, they were asked to stand down, they refused and started creating a havoc! Now if our "intellectuals" are failing to have moral and ethical conduct to justify their "intellectual status", then how do you expect we are going to groom a nation of people who abide to the laws and behave in civil manners? Isn't that childish behaviour?
Isn't that the reality now that we can not afford freebies any more? I can vauch for freebies for primary education and to some extent health care. We are trying to lump our anger on being underdeveloped due to efforts to create a welfare state, but now we have decided to drop the Ujamaa tunes, we are still struggling to admit that it is time we get real and act like the capitalists we pretend to be. In fact even in US, however affordable college education is, it is not free!
It is only in elementary and secondary education, where Americans have freedom to go to school for free. Also in special cases, once a proof has been established, a student from either poor family or special needs will receive scholarship and a grant. However it does not cover everything including toilet paper. Ndio maana kuna work studies na watu wanafanya kazi McDonalds.
Get your facts straight Rev!
Soma maoni ya Katabazi anavyozungumzia jinsi gani Marehemu Dito alikwenda Chuo Kikuu huku akifanya kazi ya uchuuzi sokoni! Why is it hard for Mwanafunzi wa Tanzania katika chuo kufanya kazi hata kama ni kuwa waiter pale UDASA club akapata tips, au kuwa utingo wa daladala? are those jobs beneath his or her social status of elitism and intellectualism?
You are talking numbers? what is the capacity of first year entry seats at UDSM? How many students can not afford to pay upfront or obtain a loan to be repaid once they graduate and secure a job with their degree?
I think you are in good position to answer this one
There is a need to roll back responsibility to each and everyone. UDSM should be a place where fiscal responsibility is being taught by telling these kids they get mkopo and atashikwa shati akipata cheki ya kwanza ya mshahara. If we do not reform the attitudes and the thinking of these kids, guess what they will graduate with sense of being entitled and follow the foot steps of Chenge and Karamagi of not being responsible and they will continue to look for shortcuts to make ends meet!
Yes there is a need to reform Bodi ya Mikopo and the whole philosophy of how Bodi ya Mikopo ya wanafunzi should work and criteria to be used. That is being reserved for anothe discussion.
Asante kwa kuona hili
There is a fight against the likes of Chenge, and we are becoming winners everyday. However if we do not rol back accountability and fiscal responsibility to our UDSM students, guess what, they will soon join rank and file of he Karamagi, Chenge and others.
I would have expected these "intellectuals" would have come up with Azimio to demand Bodi ya Mikopo be reformed, I would have expect that this group of the so called elites would have come with better methods, scientific and quantitative to present their case to Mukandala and company so that they could not be perceived as whinners!
Wamefanya hili mara nyingi sana ila hujaliona wewe!
But strange childish behaviour has been demonstrated. Vandalism, physical fights, getting suspended, loosing time for a calculater and elevetor?
Hili tatizo la juzi halikutokea haya yote unayosema, hivi wewe umepata wapi hili?
Dada yangu, sometimes we have to set our emotions aside in the midst of our anger for reforms and be objective. The whole UDSM 2008 saga lost its directions and objectivity when whomever decided to storm residence of Mkuu wa Chuo. That was simply probable cause for UDSM administration to stop the dialogue and call on FFU!
No, the whole saga lost its direction when the killer Mukandala gat himself mixed into students' own issues
Lets fight intelligently, we will win, if we succumb to emotions and become subjective, the one who gets hurt is ourselves.
Intelligence calls for understanding! aint so?
