the first article is very clear that the kenyan sgr can carry about 4000 tonnes of containers (216 twenty foot containers double stacked in one train), containers is the key word, the kenyan sgr can carry much more than 10 000 tonnes of bulk cargo (not containers)

the second article he quotes says that tanzanian cargo trains can carry only 100 single stacked containers , so somebody should explain to us how 100 single stacked containers can carry 10000 tonnes when 200 containers can carry only about 4000 tonnes,
they are directly using the total bulk cargo tonnage (not container tonnage)

Russia to extend world's most northerly railway
VIS TransStroy, Russia, signed a concession agreement on December 30 to extend Gazprom's Obskaya – Bovanenkovo Yamal Peninsula line, which is already the world's northernmost railway, north to the port of Sabetta on the western shore of the Ob estuary.

The 170km 1520mm-gauge line will cost Roubles 113bn ($US 1.54bn) to construct and is due to be completed by 2019. VIS TransStroy will design, build and operate the line until 2036, when control of the railway will be transferred to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region.

The railway will support the export of natural gas from the Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye gas field through a new port at Sabetta on the Arctic coast, where an LNG plant is being constructed.

The line will carry passengers as well as freight and will be constructed as a single-track line with provision for the addition of a second track in the longer-term. The maximum speed for passenger and freight trains will be 50km/h.

Freight traffic is forecast to reach seven million tonnes by the fifth year of operation, increasing to 14 million tonnes by the 10th year. The line will have design capacity for a maximum of 35 million tonnes.

Kwahivyo hapo juu, yanayoongelewa ni umezo wa treni bali si uwezo wa reli... treni ni jambo dogo sana ukilinganisha na ujenzi wa reli yenyewe... Pesa zilizo tumika kwa kununua treni ni 5% ya pesa zote zilizotumika kwa ujenzi wa reli.... Kumbuka hata Kenya inampango wa kuweka stima kwa reli yake by 2020 na itabidi tununue treni zengine za kutumia stima, lakini reli yenyewe inatarajiwa kufanya kazi kwa miaka zaidi ya 100... kwahivyo uwezo wa reli ndo muhimu, na ikija kwa uwezo wa reli, SGR ya Tanzania mepitwa na mbali sana na SGR ya Kenya..

Angalia No 16 hapo Reli ya Tz itajengwa na umezo wakubeba maximum of 18 Million tonnes per year au ukitaka 18m/365days = 49,315 tonnes per day -Kwahivyo mkitaka, mnaeza nunua hata treni mbili tu za uwezo wa kubeba 20,000 tonnes each... ama ukipenda zaidi, muwe na treni moja tu yenye uwezo wa 50,000 tonnes ibebe mizigo yote kwa mpigo mmoja! lakini jambo la muhimu la kuangalia ni msipitishe zadi ya avg 49,315 tonnes kwa siku au 18Million kwa mwaka manake mkipitisha hapo, reli itakaribika kwa mda mfupi.....

Ukiangalia reli ya Kenya, design ya reli ni nzito, inaeza kubeba hadi maximum of 35Million tonnes kwa mwaka! au ukipenda 95,890 tonnes kwa siku, kwahivyo hata tukipenda tunaweza kununua reli ya urefu wa 7km na mabehewa 700 ya kubeba mizigo yote kwa mpigo mmoja..






Kwahivyo muache kelele nyingi bila vitendo,, mdomo mkubwa hata hamjaanza ujenzi, tulizeni boli kwanza... Wakuu wenu wameshaanza propaganda za kujilinganisha na reli ya Kenya, watanzania wenyewe hata hamjui kuchambua, mazombie kazi kushikilia chochote mnachoambiwa kana kwamba biblia/quran... Baada ya miaka 20 hivi wakati uchumi wenu utakua umekua hako ka reli kenu ka 18m tonnes/year katakua hakawezi kuwatosheleza mahitaji yenu tena, itabidi muengeze reli ya pili yenye uwezo sawa ndo mjitosheleze, wakati Kenya reli hio hio moja ya max 35m tonnes/year itakua bado iko na capacity ya kuongeza usafirishaji wa mizigo bila kuhitaji reli nyengine kujengwa
