evidence? Ukiniletea evidence ya geothermal plants Olkaria I & II unit cost is 8 cent!

Sasa wapi msamaha yangu?

Halafu sijui kama unaifahamu IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency.) IRENA inasema kwenye tweet yao kuwa cost ya geothermal Kenya imepungua kutoka ksh 7.2 per kwh hadi ksh 2.4 per kwh. Hio in dollars ni kama imepungua kutoka $7 cents per kwh hadi $2.5 cents per kwh.

Ila nashuku nyie hampendi kusoma. Wewe unaweza kukosa kusoma hio report. Hata hio paragraph ya pili unaweza kukataa kusoma. Wacha niipaste hapa chini.

The levelized cost of power is project specific and must therefore be established for each individual project. Published data indicate an upper limit of about 13 US cents per kWh for geothermal projects. Kenya’s upper limit is about 10 US cents per kWh. There are many cost factors which may influence the levelized cost.

The key among them are project size, well output, wells and plant costs, operation and maintenance costs, interest on debt, loan tenure, payback period and financial leverage. These factors may be categorized as installation or initial investment cost, operation and maintenance costs, capital and financing costs, economic factors costs and legal and regulatory costs.

Wapi report? Upper limit of 10 Cent per unit doesn't mean unit cost of electricity is 8 Cent, it can be >8 Cent to <= 10 Cent itself!

Fullstop.

Nimeomba evidence najua tayari ile miradi ina migogoro mnalipia capacity charges yet haijawa connected to main grid yote mpaka sasa zaidi ya miaka miwili!

KENYA: Construction of the Menengai geothermal power plant is completed

By Boris Ngounou - Published on October 12 2020 / Modified on October 12 2020

The construction of the Menengai geothermal power plant in western Kenya has been completed. This is according to a report published on October 6th, 2020 by the African Development Bank (ADB), the main financier of the project. The Menengai geothermal power plant, with its 105 MWe, brings the national production of geothermal energy to 672 MWe, making Kenya the first African producer of this renewable energy source.

Kenya is Africa’s largest producer of geothermal energy. The East African country has increased its production from 168 MWe to 672 MWe in 6 years. This performance was achieved after the completion of several projects, including the Menengai geothermal power plant in western Kenya. According to the project completion report, published on October 6th, 2020, the 105 MW power plant consists of 49 steam drillings.

The project will enable Kenya to make up its electricity shortfall, which it experienced severe power shortages in the late 2000s due to variability in hydropower generation. The country had to rely on expensive back-up thermal generation from 2011 to 2018. But with the commissioning of the Menengai geothermal power plant, 500,000 households, including 70,000 in rural areas of the country, will be connected to the electricity grid.

The AfDB has allocated 108 million dollars for the project.

The construction of the Menengai thermal power station was made possible above all thanks in part to the African Development Bank (ADB), which is the main financial partner of the project, with a loan of 108 million dollars. The AfDB has in fact decided to support Kenya as part of its renewable energy development plan.

Adopted in 2011, Kenya’s electrification plan called “Vision 2030” is divided into three parts. The Medium Term Plan (MTP-I) 2008-2012, and those that followed, MTP-II (2013-2018) and MTP-III (2018-2022). These different phases plan to increase the country’s power generation capacity to 5,521 MW by the end of 2022. They also aim to promote the development and use of renewable energy sources in order to create a reliable, good quality and cost-effective electricity supply system to support industrial development.

Uko nyuma sana. Eti ni mradi gani haijakuwa connected to the grid?

Pricing depends on agreements made by different stakeholders n i will not hear hearsays za ati unit cost is 8Cent till i see a concrete evidence!

Mind you Kenyapower that is not a power generator itself, is to buy from Olkaria I & II and Menengai investors and distribute to final users, now get me a unit cost of power in Kenya say it how much do u pay for power in ur house! I am 100% sure you pay 20Cent per unit!

That's a cost of generation that Kengen and those stakeholders at Olkaria I & II plus Menengai produce then there comes Kenpower that redistribute to ur door in ur house at a unit cost of $20Cent!

Kengen sells to a distributer called Kenpower right? Now get me a unit cost in ur house meaning a cost u read from meter in ur house! In any power industry there is Upstream, midstream and lowstream operators dealing with exploration, generation, redistribution and commercialization! Boy get to know this before u argue with me!

Wewe umechanganyikiwa na unajaribu kubadilisha debate. Sasa umeanza kuongea kuhusu cost per unit ambayo consumer anakuwa charged na Kenya power. Jikite kwenye mada.

In Tanzania, after a JNHPP completion Tanesco will then owns the plant just like Kidatu, Kihansi n Kinyerezi meaning Tanesco will produce then redistribute before commercialize the power to final user a reason there will never be a time ur power will be cheaper than ours! JPM sent all those private power producers packing!

Kwanza Menengai haiproduce any power. Najua hukuwa unajua hilo.

wacha ujinga nimetaja $20Cent per KWh or unit cost of $20Cent ! Sijataja cost ya $20 per unit or $20 per KWh! Fool, naona Maths ilikushinda!

Look i don't want u to waste my time again i prefer someone that at least does not misquote me i talk of $20 Cent per unit u talk of $20 per unit! For that case U have won my buddy! let me not waste my time! u wanted to teach me about geothermal!
