Should abortion be legal or illegal in Tanzania?

Should abortion be legal or illegal in Tanzania?

Let me correct this debatable topic. We don't have to talk about illegality and it's illegal, instead we have to talk the solution for unwanted pregnant.
What is unwanted pregnancy? As far as I know, all babies are wanted whether are born or not!
Are you sure you would be termed as wanted pregnancy?
Well you talk because your mom didn't abort you, right? If true then you should be a voice for voiceless!

We already know that abortion is for school protection from expelled and keeping the parent under obligation to take care of the new born baby.
We? You and who? That is stupid alternative. Even a PhD does not match one life. I mean all PhD combined does not match single Value of life of one being cum Newton, Isaac!

My thought is to legalize the early marriage for both men and women below the age of 14 and our Law of Marriage Act should be amended so as to make it in effect.
That is not solution, though I would check if there is any biological effects of such marriage and if none then you can go ahead and suggest it in parliament! But its better opinion than that murder!

I assure you that, you will never hear any one with crying of abortion.

You and I can solve it, lets start now
Abortion is murdering a beautiful child in a womb and its a crime. Legalizing a crime makes you a criminal 🙂

I think it should legal:smokin: for those who cannot provide services to their child
Adoption not abortion.
Well If I decide to abort you now, will you let me? Suppose I was your parent and can't provide for you?

Abortion could be legally due to your thought but our life still in analog mode, hence to justify mistakes in our judicial systems is to increase problems

As Tanzanians one of the rights recognized by constitution is '' human right''' by so doing i mean by aborting we as Tanzanians will be violating human rights. This will be violation of our constitution. I should say that abortion should not be allowed!

Yes, abortion is violation of core of our constitution. But much mire, abortion is murderer!

15.(1) Every person has the right to freedom and to live as a free person.
(2) For the purposes of preserving individual freedom and the right to live as a free person, no person shall be arrested, imprisoned, confined, detained, deported or otherwise be deprived of his freedom save only-
(a)under circumstances and in accordance with procedures prescribed
by law; or
(b) in the execution of a judgment, order or a sentence given or passed by the court following a decision in a legal proceeding or a conviction for a criminal offence.

Why is abortion illegalized?

If you support the current status have you ever asked yourself why?

I think reasons to make abortion illegal are more religious than being guided by law. If one's conscience is not enough to control their choices why should the law interfere?

Please let the law be informed by objective, rational judgment rather than by emotions and un-objective beliefs.

Abortion should be illegal, however there should be exceptions. Eg: the life of the mother is in danger

Mashosho....
You should also know that criminal laws are enacted 4 the purpose of minimising wrongfull acts that have -ve repercusion 2 the society, and we all know abortion could be 1 of them

Nilikuwa nafuatilia kwa umakini sana wiki mbili zilizopita kwenye agenda iliyohusu nafasi ya mwanamke na usawa katika jamii..kielimu, kisiasa, na kiuchumi. Waziri wa Sheria nchini na katiba aliongelea suala moja ambalo tusipoangalia litatucost in our next generation. Alisema tupo kwenye muswada wa kumtetea mtoto wa kike endapo atapata ujauzito unaotokana na makosa ya ubakaji under provision 130(1) and 136)

Hakumalizia hapo akasema wanajaribu kuangalia a suitable mode of abortion ambayo itamfanya mtoto wa kike kumaintain her position academically endapo hata ujauzito unaotoka na vifungu nilivyotaja hapo awali ili kumkomboa aweze kuendelea na somo ina maana basi abortion itakuwa legally on given curcumstances je will it be constitutional on basis of human right?

Wenzetu leading nations have been trying to solve this problem through adaption wanazo institution zinazopokea watoto ambao ni non-inclussive marriage child.

Abortion is illegal and let it stay that way, though there are some exceptions.

I would only support thoughts that stand for something than a man who stands for nothing in life.

And therefore I would suggest tht let it be legal to some extent but not to a large extent, only let it be that which is in is a problem to a mother that may lead to her death if she may keep it but if one is rapped is also something we should put in mind cause I don't think that any person deserves to be loved and cared for and everybody has a right to know his or her father.

Let me end here to let others share their views.

Why should you legalize arbotion when even the bible forbids it

Abortion should only be recognized when there is impossible circumstances clearly that would have justify it, but it is illegal really not applicable

Dear all,

I have benefited to read your wonderful opinions about the issue of abortion. I have benefited because you have shared your experiences about the matter and you have offered a way forward on how to deal with the issue of abortion. Your thoughts are all wonderful.

First, I would like to say that, the issue of abortion is a serious social problem which demands our attention. Every day young women die because of cases relating to unsafe practices of abortion. This situation should not continue to happen in our society. It is our collective responsibility to come together (like what we are doing here in JF) to discuss and find solution about the problem.

I understand the Tanzania's constitution has outlawed abortion. It is illegal thing to practice abortion in Tanzania.

But today, i would like to challenge the constitution. I want to challenge the constitution because of two reasons. First reason is that, the law regarding the issue of abortion is out dated. The current constitution which prohibits the issue of abortion bases on "patriarchal ideas". The parliament assembly which decided on the matter was dominated by men because as you all know there were only few female representatives in the national parliament back then.

Second, saying that, the issue of abortion must be illegal because it's an act of killing is not true. What if the pregnancy involves danger to the health of the mother? Should not it be fair for her to abort? And what about such things like those women raped during civil wars and do not wish to have babies and prefer to abort? Should we dis-regard their concerns?

Bottom line: The issue of abortion should be legal in some cases such as when the issue of pregnancy involves danger to the health of the mother. Also when you find cases like a woman who has pregnancy resulted from act of rape and this woman does not wish to have a baby.

It should never be legalized, though in our life most of us either did or contributed to abortion. My take is instead of making it legal we should take measures on preventing the unwanted pregnancy. By giving effort to family planning, teaching those teenager girls to have contraceptions before resulting to pregnancy.
When we legalize it, Lets get prepared for having unfertile women. Wanawake tasa.

I've read recently that 30% of women at the end of their reproductive life would have abortion whether in states where it is legal or criminalized.

These are supporting facts.

Today, I heard a woman was operated to remove her womb after practicing unsafe abortion and have serious infection that resulted to that.

3 months earlier a grown up, employed lady underwent induced abortion just because she is afraid of his dad.

9 months earlier a married woman aborted and went to her home village in order to hide the action from her husband.

5 years ago a high school girl were brought to abortion list after her uncle who secretly had sexual relation with her since she was 15, impregnated her.

More than 15 years ago, a husband led a wife to terminate pregnancy as he didn't want a third child.

I also read one of activists concern and they brought some cases in attention questioning who would you give permission to do only single allowed safe abortion.

1. A young girl living with her mother and step dad. She is living in hard condition where her step dad has irrelevant violence towards her to the extent of raping her. She is doing excellent in her studies in form one. She has no other sexual experience rather than rape from he step dad. Recently she realized she has conceived and she is aware of law of no pregnancy at school as well as she is afraid of her mother and step dad reactions. She think of getting abortion.

2. A woman (32yrs)with HIV living with her husband and two children and one is affected. Her condition has been deteriorating recently and she has enough of pains with the child suffering. She uses oral contraceptive for family planning and she has been taking the pills accordingly. Lately she felt like being pregnant and when she went to clinic they confirmed her thought. She was confused and she was not ready to repeat preventive cascades which is not total assurance to deliver and care HIV free baby, she thought it is enough with her affected child. She is asking a doctor to terminate the pregnancy.

3. A woman of 40 years old. She has never been married she lives with her three children who hardly get food because she has no permanent employment. For about 6 years she has been a serious alcoholics and some time men get advantage of that and rape her. She has discovered lately that she is pregnant for about two months and she sees it as unfair to a coming baby whom she even don't know its father and off course can hardly support its well being. Abortion is her best option.

4. A married woman living with her husband in a poor state with their two children who both have serious disabilities that they need full human care even at age of 4 and above. She thought of trying her chances for another baby and conceived again after understanding and being ready to adhere care to minimize chances of malformation. When her pregnancy reached 20 weeks, she checked the unborn baby status and she was told her baby can survive but also has serious malformation that is worse than the others. She cried with pain and she says she can't tolerate to see her baby like that anymore.

5. A 23yrs college student lady from poor family in her last term of schooling. She has been doing excellent in her studies even without financial support from her family and government. She has been busy with different activities through which she earns money for fee and living at college. For certain circumstances her activities didn't provide well this time even sometime she couldn't afford 3 meals a day and the college administrative press on fee collection and if is not paid timely will attract dismissal from studies. There this man who is ready to pay for her but with the condition for sex. She thought of it, her struggles and her irregular menses then she accepted with protection by taking injection to avoid pregnancy. After two months after sex, she realized she got what she feared, pregnancy. As per college rules, she can't continue with studies while pregnant and off course, she can't sit to fail her three year dream and struggle.

Those were the stories, yet the activists concluded that regardless of the situations we can't decide on any woman need. One will decide for one self.

My take: There are many unknowns regarding the issues. As for myself, I never thought married, health and economic fairly women would get abortion. I think Social pushers seems to take the leading. Again, I see the need to rectify the reasons to undergo legal abortion. Yet education and more researches on the issue are necessary at this era of "new constitution" and new laws.

Everyone has a free will to decide on anything but not really free to decide the consequences of the decision(chosen path). Thus, with abortion you are going to have a child the only difference is you will have a dead child.
