Thousands of Rebels Approach Tripoli: Reuters Witness

OUTSIDE TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Thousands of rebel fighters 25 km (15 miles) west of Tripoli were seen moving toward the capital Sunday evening, a Reuters correspondent at the scene said.

The fighters passed a road sign saying Tripoli was 25 km away, the correspondent said. He said that as the rebels advanced they took control of a barracks belonging to the so-called Khamis brigade, the Libyan government's most elite security unit which is commanded by one of Gaddafi's sons, Khamis.

Muammar Gaddafi's former right-hand man Abdel Salam Jalloud, who has defected to the Libyan rebel side, said on Sunday Gaddafi would be toppled within 10 days.
Speaking on Italy's Rai News, Jalloud said Gaddafi's rule was "certainly" about to end and would be over "within a week, at the latest 10 days, maybe even less".

A rebel spokesman said on Friday Jalloud had defected to rebel-held territory, and Italy's Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa said on Sunday he was on Italian soil.

Poor mentality,na wananchi nao wamekula vya kutosha?maana kuna mengi sana waliyokuwa wakiyapata na sasa watayakosa.
Of all the reasons hiyo kutafuna ndo mentality mbovu kabisa inayoturudisha nyuma.Eti ametafuna,sasa wengine watakaotafuna unawajuwa wewe?

Kama unafuatilia historia basi utaona kwamba nchi nyingi za kiafrica "zililazimishwa" na "wafadhili" ziache mfumo wa chama kimoja na wakumbatie "democracy (mfumo wa vyama vingi)" ili waweze kuendelea kufadhiliwa (hii ilianza mwishoni mwa 80's). Kwa mantiki ya signecha yako basi ukoloni umesharudi Africa. Ingefaa zaidi kama signecha yako ingesomeka "May Allah help the African continent against colonialism in the name of democracy" . Nategemea umenipata!

Shukran mkuu, nimeanza na Libya kama case study yetu kwa sasa. Kwani wenyewe wan adefine 'democracy' as government of the people, by the people for the people. Serikali ya Qaddafi is for the people kwani utajili wap wote up kwenye jina la Libya. Wanapata almost all social services buree ambapo hata Ulaya hamna. Libya haidaiwi na nchi yeyote duniani. Wanachotaka Westerners ni resource zetu tu kwa misaada hewa mf. vyandarua venye dawa za kutudhuru n.k. Hebu angalia wanavyochimba dhahabu yetu, hivi,mapato yotre ya dhahabu yangetua yetu na yakatumika ipasavyo tungekuwa wapi leo?????Baada ya hii vita kuisha na ikiwa Tebels watashinda, watasimamia tu uporwaji wa mafuta yao huku wananchi wakiteseka kwani sehemu kubwa ya Libya ni jangwa.

Libya's rebels have captured Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif Al-Islam, the head of the rebel National Transitional Council told Al Jazeera television on Sunday.

"We have confirmed information that our guys have captured Saif Al-Islam," Mustapha Abd El Jalil said. "We have given instructions to treat him well so that he can face trial."
