Rwanda is now seeking to rejoin the Economic Community of Central African States (Eccas) after it pulled out of the regional community of 10 Central African states composed of Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Sao Tome & Principe in 2007. Rwandan Ambassador to DRC, Amb Rugira is quoted in the newspaper as explaining that Kigalis chances of readmission are very high, and that it will be welcomed back to the regional bloc at its next heads of state summit, due to take place early 2014 in NDjamena. As for Rwandas decision of giving up its membership in 2007, the Ambassador explained that, having just joined the EAC, Kigali tried to concentrate on the Eastern African regional bloc.
