With all the negativity that goes on about our continent, nothing pleases me than seeing an African woman who is seriously offending society’s chauvinistic bureaucracy and dares to realize her dreams, while empowering others. One of the reasons I decided to start a regular feature on female Moguls in Africa is that I wanted to inspire fellow young African women by showing them that every goal is attainable.

My focus today is on ZARI HASSAN.



Zari is of mixed Burundian, Somalia, and Indian heritage, holds Ugandan citizenship and lives in South Africa. She is a serious money maker who owns several businesses across the African continent including jewellery stores, real estate and colleges. One of the reasons why I absolutely love her is that she also gives back to the disadvantaged.

32 year old Zari is a mother of three boys and is married to business tycoon Ivan. She is fashionista of note and a lover of cars and shoes. Any woman who can juggle several successful businesses, motherhood, marriage and looks ever so sassy while doing it deserves a salute.
