Hiyo picha ya Loco Shed Tabora ndipo akifanyakazi babu yangu Salum Abdallah maarufu Baba Popo kuanzia 1947 had 1964.

Alihamia Tabora kutoka Dar es Salaam baada ya Loco Shed kuhamishwa kutoka Dar es Salaam mwaka huo wa 1947.
1955 yeye na Kassanga Tumbo walianzisha chama Tanganyika Railways African Union (TRAU).

Salum Abdallah akiwa President na Kassanga Tumbo Secretary.
TRAU ina historia kubwa sana katika kupigania uhuru wa Tanganyika.

TRAU ilifanya mgomo mwaka wa 1960 uliodumu siku 82.
Salum Abdallah aliongoza mgomo huo wa wafanyakazi wa Railways uliodumu miezi mitatu.

Kwa miezi mitatu treni, meli na mabasi ya Railway yalisimama hadi Waingereza waliposalimu amri na kuwaita viongozi wa wafanyakazi katika meza ya majadiliano.

Uhuru ulipopatikana babu yangu akapambana kwa fikra na msimamo wa Nyerere kuhusu vyama vya wafanyakazi Nyerere akitaka viwekwe chini ya TANU na viongozi wa vyama vya wafanyakazi pamoja na babu yangu wakipinga wazo hilo.

Yalipotokea maasi ya wanajeshi tarehe 20 Januari 1964 baada ya maasi kuzimwa na jeshi la Waingereza, Nyerere aliwakamata viongozi wote wa vyama vya wafanyakazi na kuwaweka kizuizini.

Babu yangu alifungwa kwenye jela ya Uyui, Tabora na alipotoka kizuizini Tanganyika Railway African Union (TRAU) chama alichokiasisi mwaka wa 1955 kilikuwa kimepigwa marufuku pamoja na vyama vingine vya wafanyakazi na badala yake kimeundwa chama cha National Union of Tanganyika Workers (NUTA) kwa juhudi kubwa za Rashid Kawawa na Michael Kamaliza.

Babu yangu alihama Tabora na kwenda Urambo kupisha shari kwani zilienezwa taarifa za uongo kuwa yeye alikuwa katika kundi pamoja na Victor Mkello (kiongozi wa wafanyakazi wa mashamba ya mkonge) na Kassanga Tumbo walikuwa wamekula njama ya kupindua serikali na kumuua Rais Nyerere.
