Happy New Year bookworms!

Nilijiwekea lengo la kusoma vitabu viwili wiki ya mwisho ya 2019, nimepita lengo hilo.
Lengo lilikuwa ni kusoma "The Case Against Reality: Why Evolution Hid the Truth from Our Eyes" cha Donald D. Hoffman na "The Last Warrior: Andrew Marshall and the Shaping of Modern American Defense Strategy".
The first one was a great read, it covers a lot of ground, from evolution to quantum physics.
The second one was a niche read, it reminded me a lot of my friend Andrew Nyerere. Military types and Pentagon enthusiasts would find it interesting, at points it was a slog that felt more of hagiography than biography.
The kicker is, I really wanted to read "George Marshall: Defender of The Republic" by David L. Roll. I guess I picked the wrong Marshall. I was intrigued by the fct that I had never heard of Andrew Marshall, I have read George Marshall's previous biographies.
So, this week being largely a holiday week, I met and surpassed my goal.
I read the two books I inteded, and I read two more.
I read Sean Carroll's "Something Deeply Hidden:Quantum Worlds and the Emergence of Spacetime". I was highly motivated by Carroll's other book "The Big Picture: On The Origins of Life, Meaning, and the Universe Itself". Carroll is a very important author.
I found time to read another book that has been sitting on my list for some time. "The Beginning of Infinity: Explanations That Transform the World" by David Deutsch. This book is off the charts in terms of coverage and how thought provoking it is.
So by the end of the year I managed to finish these titles.
The 2020 goal is at least 2 books a week.This week I am scaling back from science. I am balancing by reading fiction "Night Boat to Tangier" by Kevin Barry, I was given this as a Christmas gift. It is a slog. Even as it was listed for the Man Booker Prize. The plotline is convoluted, the sentence formation are fabulous though.
What I am enjoying right from the start is Samantha Power's new book, "The Education of an Idealist: A Memoir".
Samanta Power was Barack Obama's US Ambassador at the UN. She had previously won a Pulitzer Prize for her book
"A Problem From Hell: America and The Age of Genocide".
