Electric Rail Technology is more old than Diesel, Diesel Engines are modern tech, people only use electricity as it is cheaper and cleaner, so don't think TZ having electric train is something new, Electric train dates back to 19th Century
Haya mwengine katoka usingizini hehehhe mwaka huu tutaona mengi sana 😀😀😀😀
Asante kwa kuja

Hahaha kajituloize na Ndoto hizo za Kidanganyika, tusha wazoea, yaani, nyinyi domodomo, Kenya ndio kwenda mbele, sahi 3Hrs, Nairobi to Mombasa. Nasikia ile kwenye ndoto zenu inachukua 1hr Dar is Slum to Moro! Sijui inapeleka nini huko. Kilometer 160, 1 hr, Electric, sisi tunachapa 480Km 3hrs Diesel!! Hahahaha! Bongolala
😀😀😀😀😀😀
Povuuuuuuu baya sana
Yenu 480km kwa 3 hrs heeheheheheh ur so clever
Kapumzike my friend😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

seriously driver hawezi kushuka mpaka aekewe extranal support ladder za kushuka, wachina nyie kweli mumekosa huruma kiasi hicho, ujue inauma sana

Sasa huyu unamwambia DF8B ilhali hawezi tofautisha, shunting engines, freight Engines, Passenger and LRT hiyo kwake ngumu kuelewa

Inabidi unamshow model number ndio agoogle ajue hakuna bullet trains za freight kama zenye anaexpect

He wil be suprised how many are still in service around the world if he dares to research

Treni zimerudi Eastern Africa!

Very informative, where do you guys learn all this things??

Very informative, where do you guys learn all this things??
Alot of free time(made up my own free time) and free company Internet will get you places you never imagined... I usually spend time in some forums that are quit informative

In the US and Europe they have forums like this one only they just discuss everything trains all day!!!!! can you imagine??? tena wanatumia technical jargon wakiongea... Wengine ni railway engineers, wengine bado wanasomea wako shule, wengine wanafanya signal and communication, wengine ni railway enthusiasts , wengine wako na intrest in history of railway, wengine ni fans wa kawaida tu.....

Imenifanya nigundue sisi waafrika elimu yetu iko chini sana! kwa hio forum wakiongea wanaongea wakitumia technicall terms, kama hujui unauliza unaelezewa lakini ukitoka hapo umeshika kama pro, huku kwetu hata kama nyote ni experts, utakuta bado watu wanaongeleshana in layman terms...how do you expect to be a profession if you cant even speak the language of your field of study????

Someone should start a forum for professionals...... Computer scientist can have discussions, engineers discuss their own things, Doctors to quickly get opinions from others who have dealth with a certain diagnosis before, same with pilots, architects..... it will also be a place for professionals to pass some practical field experience knowledge to those that are still studying......etc

Wachina sio watu wazuri hehehehheehehe mm binafsi imeniuma sana dahhhhhh

Actually horsepower ya TRL locomotive ni superior kuliko hiyo ya KR
Kawaida yenu. Kondoo mmoja akiruka kamba wengine wanafwatilia kuruka hata ukiondoa kamba.....

TRC inatumia GE U30C na SDD20 zote ni 3000HP and power output of 2,200Kw while Kenya's freight Df8B iko na 5000HP na powerplant output ya 3,700Kw

Times of Zambia | TAZARA seals $12m locomotive deal

Tena isitoshe, raw horsepower is not all that determines what engine is superior there are alot of factors, like torque, tractive effort, weight ratio, axle horsepower( the actual power that is translated to the wheels) .... the old trains SDD20 tanzania got from China are old and have lost their horsepower, can't even power all the lights they are a dim... atleast the U30C are newer but you will still find that they waste like 10% of there HP just to pull the loco engine while on the otherhand the Df8B loco can even be pushed by a squad of 20 people on a superior SGR meaning it translates almost all of its HP to pulling the cargo......
Also not to forget that Tanzania is narrow gauge cap of 1060mm which even if you had a train of higher horsepower it will still have to move at lower speeds compaired to standard guage of 1,400mm Tazara was originally designed for maximum speed of 110km/hr but it has deated since then, it can only support a maximun speed of 40km/hr, higher than that and the driver risks the train jumping off the track 😱😱

Unajua kuwa TAZARA na TRL ni mashirika tofauti? Tuna reli ya kati (TRL) na Tanzania Zambia Railway (TAZARA).

Tazara is Cape gauge which is over 1 m! Only central line is narrow gauge that is 1m. Only central line the speed is capped at 40 km/h

unamaanisha zile loco mliletewa juzi juzi zikapigwa mapicha pale dar zikiwa na mabehewa mapya ya abiria?Haijalishi pia, based on the first comment about HP

kwamfano hawa hapa walikua wanajadiliana which is the most powerfull locomotive engine in India among theses ones
  1. WAG-9H, 6350 HP
  2. WAG-9, 6350 HP
  3. WAP-7 6350 HP
  4. WAG-6A/B/C, 6110 HP
  5. WDG-5, 5500 HP
  6. WAG-7, 5350 HP
  7. WAP-4 5350 HP
  8. WCAM-3, 5000 HP
  9. WCAM-2, 4600 HP
  10. WDG-4B/D, 4500 HP
  11. WDP-4B/D, 4500 HP
  12. WAG-5, 4350 HP

Mwanzo utafikiri ni hio number one, alafu pia wakapeana list ya tractive effort ya the same locos

A list according to Tractive effort (TE)

  1. WAG-7H, TE: 91000 KgF
  2. WDG-4, TE: 55000 KgF (Creep Control), WDG-4: 34100 KgF.
  3. WAG-9, TE: 53000 KgF
  4. WAG-7, TE: 45000 KgF
  5. WAG-6, TE: 41000 KgF
  6. WDP-4B/D: 39000 KgF
  7. WDM-3F, 38060 KgF
  8. WDM-3D, 36030 KgF
  9. WAP-7, 36000 KgF
  10. WAP-4, 35600 KgF
  11. WAG-5, 33840 KgF
  12. WAM-4 33840 KgF

In the end one concluded that the most powerful locomotive ilikua ni WDP 4D ( 4500 HP)

hile the raw horsepower rating of a loco is important, most people tend to overlook the fact that it is not the whole story. A locomotives power generally depends on three things - Horsepower rating, max tractive effort and weight of loco.

The ‘tractive effort’ is a measure of how large a load the loco can pull and set in motion from a standstill — the maximum force it can exert at the drawbar or coupling. The loco's weight also comes into play, as a heavier loco can pull a larger load without its wheels slipping. Once the wheels begin slipping, the force that can be exerted by the loco drops dramatically. (Slipping occurs more with the front wheels because the front of the loco tends to lift slightly due to the reaction torque exerted by the rails on the loco.) Modern locos tend to have electronic slip control to control the power applied to each axle separately to minimize slip and maximize the tractive effort under different conditions.

If all the above factors are taken in to account, then WDG4 is currently the most powerful loco. The WDG4 weighs 126 tonnes, has a raw horsepower rating of 4000hp and its max tractive effort is 55100 kg. Add to that, Creep Control, which is essentially computer controlled wheel slip in order to maximize tractive effort.

Ur welding design for ur rail tracks is not continuous so how can u dare talking of horsepower n powerfulness of the engine if ur rail alone is less smooth in comparison to SGR design in Tanzania

Many have suggested that kenya got shafted and is building an expensive line compared to Ethiopia, but recent pics and updates might suggest otherwise, although not an electric line, it has a larger carrying capacity of 22 million tonnes per year compared to Ethiopia 8.5 million tons and can be upgraded to sustain maximum speeds of 240 km/h after electrification from the current 120km/. Diesel trains bought by Kenya run similar to electric trains of Ethiopia at average of 120 km/h with maximum of 160 km/h
