Taking on opposition is a planned attack, but so far three attacks.

The first attack was in Mbeya when all opposition party of Chadema were attending a meeting in preparation of International Youth Day on 12 August as they have their own youth wing BAVICHA.

Then came the second brutal attack when one of their leaders and strategist Mzee Omary Kibao was abducted from inside the bus which was traveling to Tanga in North East. The paramilitary force which is believed to have affiliation with government or state apparatus was believed to be behind the kidnaping, torturing and murder of Mzee Kibao.

Then came the third attack on last Sunday when the police in Dar-es-Salaam targeted Chadema main leaders Chairman Freeman Mbowe and his vice chairman Tundu Lissu.

All these wave of arrests point to pre-election crackdown or trial period as CCM is preparing for next year presidential and parliamentarians elections, this is used as trial run for local government elections which are due to take place between October and November this year.

President Samia who called herself as a reformer following the death of John Magufuli, has yet to fulfil her promise of reforms by allowing political parties level playing field despite releasing Mbowe from prison and changing repressive laws on media imposed by her predecessor.

President Samia has two major problems one, is failing to implement substantive political reforms in which political parties will be able to set their agendas and execute their plans to electorate freely without intimidations from her security apparatus.

Secondly, her struggle within the ruling party CCM to asset herself as their truly leader and consolidate her grip on presidency by honing with the party hardliners who had supported the late John Magufuli.

So, its a double knock effect of the vacuum left by late Magufuli which has been seized by hardliners who want to challenge her authority and her running for presidency next year and also the opposition who are trying so hard to derail her campaign which so far she has failed to initiate.

The results of all these are there for all of us to see, that her team different groups and beneficiary of her regime to stop those challenges they see as sabotage for her running for presidency by attacking the opposition and at the same time to stamp her authority.
