Rafa Benitez believes Manchester United are looking nervously over their shoulder at his resurgent Liverpool side.

"He is talking about us because they're feeling the pressure we're putting on them," Benitez told The Sunday Telegraph.

"I know he is nervous, and that is good."

"Mind games are for managers who are affected by them. But I don't understand him because he talks in a Scottish accent," he said.

United defender Vidic is favourite to win the PFA award


Steven Gerrard is the only non-Manchester United player in the running for the Professional Footballers' Association player of the year award. The Liverpool captain is joined on the shortlist by United's Nemanja Vidic, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edwin van der Sar.
Jonny Evans and Rafael Da Silva are nominees for the young player award.
Also in contention with the United pair are Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Aaron Lennon and Stephen Ireland.
Defender Vidic is favourite to lift the trophy at London's Grosvenor House on 26 April.

Voting took place before United's recent dip in form, perhaps explaining why the list of contenders is dominated by players from Sir Alex Ferguson's team.
But Gerrard could benefit from a split vote for United players as David Ginola did during their 1999 treble-winning season - an outcome that annoyed Ferguson.
Giggs has never won the award, whereas Ronaldo could become the first player to win it three years in a row.
After a superb season for Manchester City, Ireland is favourite to succeed Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas as the country's top youngster.
Agbonlahor and Young have both impressed for Aston Villa, while Tottenham winger Lennon has also caught the eye.

Porto's Mariano Gonzalez says they made Manchester United look ordinary on Tuesday.

The midfield star scored an 89thminute equaliser to earn Porto a 2-2 draw and leave United with plenty to do in next week's return encounter.

And Mariano claims United look vulnerable, despite their current status as English, European and world champions.

He said: "You can say they played badly but the credit should go to us, as we made the great stars of Manchester look like they weren't that great.

"They are a motivated squad but it was our strength that made them look fragile. But they will come to Porto to win the second leg. They have shown they can win at any stadium. They will come to score and they will try to attack from the first minute.

"But as always our fans will be very noisy and that will inspire us."
