Last, another objective for Louis XIV’s reconstruction of Versailles was to have the nobility under his control. As of May 6, 1682, King Louis XIV announced to the seat of the government a new location for the court, had been established to live in, “The Chateau of Versailles”. The relocation to Versailles signifies the “gilded cage to house his courtiers”[8]. Louis was still traumatized by the events of the Fronde, “that event made a deep and enduring impression on the young king…lead him to harbour deep wells of distrust”[9]. Moreover, King Louis power grew more through this time as the nobility acted more as his servant than making any decisions for the well-being of the people. Nobility were forced by the power of King Louis to dress him, to stand with him while he ate, he bullied the nobility.
