Trump taps J.D VANCE Ohio’s junior senator as his running mate
Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday selected J.D. Vance, a senator from the Midwestern state of Ohio, as his running mate in November’s presidential election.
Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social media platform, saying he decided the Marine Corps veteran and Yale Law School graduate is “the person best suited” to become vice president of the United States.
Shortly after Trump’s naming of the 39-year-old Vance, the bearded senator took a victory lap on the floor of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee as thousands of delegates cheered.
Trump drew his own cheers late Monday as he made an appearance at the convention sporting a bandage on his right ear from an assassination attempt at his Saturday campaign rally.
Vance is expected to address the gathering on Wednesday, the night before Trump formally accepts the party’s presidential nomination for the third consecutive time.

Vance owes his rise to an unparalleled ability to articulate the tenets of a new conservative movement. It is often termed “national conservatives” or “the new right,” and is in favor of tight borders, tariffs, muscular state intervention in the economy and a retreat from the world stage.
DOUG BURGUM: The North Dakota governor has in the past acted as a companion to Trump on the campaign trail and a surrogate on television and at swanky dinners. Following Burgum’s endorsement of Trump in January, the former president described him as: “the most solid guy. There’s no controversy whatsoever.”
MARCO RUBIO: The Florida senator's backers have pitched Trump on his attributes, such as his being the son of Cuban immigrants. He is charismatic and can appeal to both working-class and professional-sector voters, including Hispanics, according to his advocates. Trump and Rubio bonded during Trump’s presidential term, when Rubio served as an informal adviser on Latin American policy and worked with Ivanka Trump on expanding the Child Tax Credit.
