So? Is this also meant to serve as an excuse? It all started with one being given the same lame excuse for being a Chemist and now what was that again? A Mathematician, my foot! Next it will be a Physicist, then a Doctor, then an Accountant, then a Pilot, then what next? An Engineer? A Lawyer? An Auditor? A Banker? A Philospher? A Statistician?...and where will all this end? A Govenment worker? A Factory manager? a Locomotive driver? a Nurse? a Technician? a Bull-dozer or what? Some excuses are so stupid they'd make you want to throw up?
For one English is the second official Language of the United Republic of Tanzania after Kiswahili.Two English is the medium of instruction in the Institutions of higher learning in this country. Three English is the number one Language of the world. To be a professor in any field of learning and not be able to speak English fluently leaves a lot to be desired. To give the kind excuse like the one Prof. Ndalichako is being accorded just shows our ineptitude when faced with a problem that requires serious and seasoned remedy. Aren't we merely acting like imbeciles?

People are not examined orally when producing their thesis, rather the work is assessed through structured academic writing.
During the process there is a supervisor whom you can consult as the work develops, if there are grammatical errors or areas of improvement they will be highlighted during discussions.
Therefore the author has ample time to correct their work in all areas, before producing the final draft; consequently this has nothing to being able to speak good english.
Whereas spoken English is not determined by merely understanding the meaning of words from a particular language, there are also psychological factors like how often you use that language for the structure to register in your brain, etc with lexical development.
As a result people who spend most of their time listening and speaking their mothers tongue are bound to struggle with foreign languages regardless of their education.
Most people who brag about their English skills in this forum and haven’t spent much time abroad I am certain when conversing with them for half an hour a majority will struggle and their accent won’t be far apart from those they ridicule.

We acha ujinga. Kingereza ni lugha ya kigeni kwa maana mtanzania ili aweze kuitumia ni lazima afanye juhudi ya makusudi kujifunza. Ukiona mtanzania anaongea lugha hii kwa ufasaha ni lazima awe msomi (aliyepitia shule) au aliyebahatika kuishi kwa muda mrefu na watumiaji wa asili wa lugha hii.
Kwakuwa Ndalichako ni msomi na mwenye umri mkubwa, alitarajiwa kuwa na uzoefu wa kutosha kuweza kuongea Kingereza "kisomi" (kwa ufasaha). Mtu mwenye akili sawasawa ni lazima ashangae/ahoji "usomi" wa mtu anayeongea lugha hii kwa "kupigapiga".

Unapopata elimu ya juu, chuo kilichotoa elimu lazima kithibitishe lugha iliyotumika kufundishia. Maana yake ni kuwa unaimudu kuiongea na kuiandika. Hii ndiyo sababu unaandika insha na kutoa mijadala kwa lugha inayotakiwa ukiwa chuoni.
Kama elimu ya mama Ndalichako yote ilifundishwa Kiha na Kiswahili sisi ni nani wa kuihoji?

Sio lugha aliyozaliwa nayo sioni shida hapo ili mradi aeleweke tu kwa hadhira anayozungumza nayo,hata huko mavyuoni tumefaulu lakini si kwa kuandika kiingereza kizuri ila kwa kumwaga points kwenye swali uliloulizwa na msahihishaji akanielewa.

Hivi Mtu ukijua kuongea Kiingereza ndo amefaulu. Basi kama ndiyo hivyo mtoto Wangu wa Dara la 4 nimsomi kwelikweli maana anaongea sana kiingereza, UK English and USA English.
Vilevile Watoto wale wa uingereza nao ni Wasomi kwelikweli maana kutwa wanaongea kiingereza.
