Lucifer is a transliteration of the Hebrew word Helel which means Lucent, Shiny or sometimes Bright. (kiswahili cha shiny na bright ni ng'aa, haina tofauti)
The full name (prase) is Helel ben Shachar which means Shining one, Son of the Morning. So how do we get Lucifer from Helel?

Shahar (Shachar) and Shalim were two deities from the Urgarit (Canaanite religion) pantheon, one representing Dawn and the other representing Dusk.
In Greek mythology, they were known as Phosphorus (morning star) and Hesperus (evening star), and they were both a representation of the planet Venus rising and setting, both in the east at dawn and in the west at dusk. It's my guess that they're a early depiction of a day, and where it begins and ends.
The naming of phosphorus in Latin is Luciferus and Hesperus in Latin is Vesperus, which is how we get the word Lucifer (and Vesper) from Helel.
Did Lucifer serve as the King of Babylon?
Nabonidus, the Babylonian king during the fall of Babylon, as mentioned in the book of Isiah 14:12, was in charge of Babylon with his son Belshazzar. In 539 BCE, Babylon was conquered by the Persian King Cyrus the Great.
Cyrus found the presence of foreign exiles (prisoners and war captives) in Babylon such as the Jews distasteful and one of his first acts was to allow these exiles to return to their homelands and were made to take with them the images of their gods, their “sacred vessels” and much of their personal belongings.
And so ended the exile of the Jews in Babylon.

The creation was meant to mock the previous Babylonian ruler, who was also a 'God King'. Therefore, it is absolutely true that 'Lucifer' was the king of Babylon.
Satan is famous for convincing people that he doesn't exist. He's also adept at concealing his true name and making them believe he's someone else.
