Chuo cha uongozi cha Mwalimu Nyerere kilichopo Kibaha mkoani Pwani kilianzishwa kuhudumu kwenye nchi za kusini mwa Afrika na kupewa jina la Mwalimu Nyerere kama heshima ya kuongoza mapambano ya kutafuta uhuru kusini mwa Afrika.
Chuo cha Mwalimu Nyerere ni juhudi ya pamoja kwa vyama sita vya ukombozi kusini mwa Afrika ambavyo kwa sasa ni vyama tawala ambapo nchi zao kupata uhuru ulisaidiwa na Nyerere pamoja na OAU ambavyo vilipewa hifadhi nchi Tanzania.
Vyama hivyo ni Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), African National Congress (ANC) cha Afrika Kusini, People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) na South West African People’s Organisation (SWAPO) cha Namibia, Zimbabwe African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) na Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO)
The Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership School is being established in Tanzania to serve southern Africa in honour of the late founding President and former chairperson of the Frontline States.
The leadership college is a joint effort of six liberation movements from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), who are now governing parties, and whose countries gained independence with the support of Nyerere and the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) Liberation Committee that was hosted by the United Republic of Tanzania.
The six liberation movement parties are Tanzania`s Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa, the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), and the South West African People’s Organisation (SWAPO) of Namibia, the Zimbabwe African National Union–Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) and the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO).
A colourful ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the school was held in Kibaha, Coastal Region, near Dar es Salaam in 2018. The parties were represented at the function by their respective secretaries-general who took up shovels to prepare the ground.
They will work together to establish the Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership School, with support from China. The government of Tanzania provided the land.
