Political Journey:
Elia Wilinasi (born 25 December 1991) is a Tanzanian young man with more interest in politics. He was a petroleum engineering researcher from 2019 to 2022 at the China University of Geosciences, China. He also served as the Natural Gas Process Engineer at Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation, TPDC, at Madimba natural gas processing plant from 2017–2019. In 2014 and 2015, he served as a petroleum inspector and petroleum quality control and assurance officer at Intertek Testing Services Ltd., Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
His political interests started when he was in class five in 2005. During that period, Elia joined his mother to campaign for councilors and parliamentary candidates. His mother always wanted her son to be a politician. His mother started serving the CCM party in 2000. She served the party as chairperson, member, and campaign manager of various parliamentary candidates in her territory until December 18, 2015, when she died in a car accident. Elia's mother was buried with CCM flags as an honor she earned for serving the party with great diligence and professionalism throughout her life. In 2017, Elia decided to take an active interest in politics in order to honor her mother in action as a reward for the work she did for the CCM party.
Education:
Between 2000 and 2006, Elia attended Igamba Primary School in the Songwe Region. After primary, Elia attended Igamba Secondary School for his O-level, which took place between 2007 and 2010. Then he moved to the Iringa Region and studied at the Ifunda Technical High School for his advanced level education, taking PCM combination. He graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2017 with a degree in Petroleum (Oil and Gas) Engineering. In 2019, Elia was awarded a scholarship by the Tanzania Ministry of Energy and the Chinese Government to study for a Master's degree. He graduated from the China University of Geosciences in 2022 with a degree in Oil and Natural Gas Engineering.
Research and publication journey:
Elia has authored a number of research articles, including one on the optimization of natural gas production system constraints to extend the plateau rate of a conceptual gasfield. Another is on the design of a MATLAB kerogen classification toolbox (MKCT) for the characterization of hydrocarbon source rocks in the MATLAB software programming language environment. He has also authored an article on using Material Balance to Design an Artificial Neural Network Machine Learning Regression Model for Predicting the Performance of Tangawizi Dry Gas Reservoir in Tanzania’s Block 2 Offshore Field, and an article on using black oil modeling to build a conceptual hydrocarbon reservoir model for comparing the oil production performance of vertical and horizontal wells.
Training and workshops:
Elia has attended several international conferences, exhibitions and national training. In December 2021, he attended the 3rd edition of Indian Infrastructure's Small Scale LNG (ssLNG) and Storage in Oil and Gas in India. He attended the Tanzania-Uganda Oil and Gas Symposium (TUOG), Enhancing the Private Sector, hosted by the Tanzania Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in November 2021.In November 2021, he attended the Earth Energy Environment Conference at Marietta College, Ohio, USA.
